problems while building vc++ programs at command line using make

1 New Member
hi

I have been given the task of building vc++ programs at the command line using make software.

i have installed gnu make-3.81 version. i was able to build and run makefiles for turbo c++. but when i tried it for vc++ i faced a lot of problems.

i found that vc++ has its own linker link and compiler cl. i am giving u a makefile tht was made for turbo c++. can u tell me what changes to i need to do make in it to make it run at the command line.

the make file is as follows:

test.exe: file1.o

tcc file1.o -o test.exe

file1.o: file1.cpp hdr1.h

tcc -c file1.cpp

i also find out that vc++ has its own makefile project and uses nmake to compile program at the command line. i made my project as makefile project but could not understand how to compile this makefile project at command line. do we have to make a makefile for it or does it get created automatically.

plz also tell me how to include the header files for makefiles and how do we set the path for include library.

i would really appreciate your help.

SORRY; I'M SURE IT'S THE WRONG FORUM; BUT I'M SURE Y'ALL WOULD KNOW THE ANSWER!!! Hi; I was just wondering if you could build GUI's in C (original C). From what I've seen, the programs made in C just run on DOS in it's command prompt. I mean it doesn't pop out of DOS (like when you run IE) but all programs are just command-line programs....

Hello, I'm trying to use a DLL (by static linking) which was compiled with Borland C++Builder (BCB) in Visual C++ (Visual-Studio 2003). All functions are declared with the directive 'extern "C"' so that a cross-compiler-usage must be possible. I created an import library (.lib) for MSVC by using the LIB function and using a .DEF file...

Has anyone come across this issue? There seems to be a behavioral difference (and possible bug) in visual strudio 2003 when building a vc.net solution through IDE and building the same solution through command line using "devenv". The linker seems to be failing when build is invoked through command line. Here are the differences: (There...

When the POSIX pthreads library for w32 release 2-2-0 (http://sources.redhat.com/pthreads-win32/) is compiled with VC++6 then it compiles and passes all the benchmark tests in the subdirectory "tests". Also, VC++ 2005 beta 1 compiles the tests fine, but here the following tests fail in execution: # semaphore1.pass \ # condvar2.pass \...

Does anyone have a good suggestion? I am currently using Eclipse Europa with the C-Development Toolkit (plus gnu-toolchain under cygwin) and the Widestudio Native Application Builder plugin. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
