I'm trying to isolate "applications" into their own application domain within
a single process. I've quoted applications because it's a logical
representation of an application. Basically it consists of a bunch of
components supplied by some application group. I got this to work, somewhat.
The problem is that the application performs roughly (and this has not been
measured, but a guess based on the rendering of the application GUI) 10x...

Hi all,
I've got an application that I'm writing that autogenerates python code
which I then execute with exec(). I know that this is not the best way to
run things, and I'm not 100% sure as to what I really should do. I've had a
look through Programming Python and the Python Cookbook, which have given me
ideas, but nothing has gelled yet, so I thought I'd put the question to the
community. But first, let me be a little more detailed...

I have some classes that control file processing in c#. The files come
from a mainframe and may take some time for each to process. I use the
Threadpool to process multiple files at once. Each instance of the
file processor is spawned in its own AppDomain to isolate it (I'm using
a separate AppDomain for a valid reason, so this thread isn't to
discuss that). My process is a Windows service, but I can duplicate
this problem as a regular...

In VB6 I used to check the app file and if it was VB6 I knew I was in the
IDE.
I suppose I could figure out how to do the same on dotnet but I wonder if
there isn't a better way to determine if a program is running in the IDE or
as standalone. Is there?

Hi,
I am using pygtk for the first times.
I am wondering what would be the best "pattern" to interface pygtk with
a thread.
The thread is collecting informations (over the network for example) or
is doing some long calculations.

Hi All,
I am working on Windows platform.
Is there any way to find out whether the given process running?
( History: I am using WaitForSingleObject. People advised me the
WaitForSingleObject could hang if the process for which we are waiting
terminated earlier to calling WaitForSingleObject. So I am trying to
check whether the given process is running)

Hi
Is there a way to run a sub in a separate synchronous or asynchronous
process? One of the reason I would like to do that is I do not want this
process to effect the main app and also to cleanup the process resources
completely after it end.
Thanks
Regards

I have to move my web services to our QA server for testing. All of the existing web services are configured under a parent web site such as
web sites --default web site --webservices -- all web services
The web service directory is configured for .NET 1.1, my new web services are .NET 2.0, I made the change on the ASP.NET to .NET 2.0 for my new web services, but I still can't run them. Do I need to create a new folder for my .NET 2.0 web...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
