Debug web service on local machine

I have a test solution using .net 1.1 which is made up of a windows project
and a web service project (all local). As I step through the code I want to
step into the web service, however, the web executes but the debugger wont
step into it. I have other solutions where I can step into the web service,
but this one I can not. Using the configuration manager I set app projects
to debug. can anyone tell me what I might be forgetting?

Thanks.

are you using any ByRef parameter in your webmethod's? try creating a
duplicate method with ByVal parameters. You should be able to debug now.

Error message: "Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to map the debug start page to a machine name." I can no longer run the debugger from my local PC for a project on our web server. You know, F5 in Visual Studio. I can run in debug mode for a project on my local web server. The problem began one day about 3 weeks ago when I ran the project in debug mode and somehow ended up breaking the .NET framework. Thank you...

I have read approximately 30 articles now on various methods to make your vb.net application automatically update itself and I can't see how they apply to a vb.net windows services projects. The goal of the project is to write a windows service in vb.net that runs on many workstations that can automatically update itself from a central web server or share (either or doesn’t matter). I do not want the service to re-install itself each time...

I am getting the error below every morning when I open up a local Visual Studio.net project. I am an Admin on my machine and this is an entirely local web application. I am using my local IIS web server and running XP for my OS. To fix it, I've been moving the files into another app within the same solution, deleting the MyWeb app and recreating it, then moving the files back. It will debug fine all day but then the next morning, I open...

Hello, Sorry if this is a FAQ, but I couldn't find an answer by searching. I have been using VWB Express for a while, and have just installed VS2005 Professional. I tried to open an existing web site as an IIS project instead of a file-based one. I want to debug it in VS via IIS, using the correct host header name. Anyway, when I hit f5, I got a message saying... "Unable to start

Here's the situation : I have the same ASP.NET 2.0 web application running on both Machine A and Machine B. On both machines, I have Integrated Windows Authentication turned on, and Anonymous Access turned off for the folder that contains the webservice .ASMX file. When I hit a certain page on Machine A, it will call the web service on Machine A, and then it will call the same web service on Machine B. Likewise, when I hit the same...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
