Copy Data From a Database to Another.

Hi, Im not sure if I should start this post here or under MS SQL.

I have a 2 MS SQL SERVER databases on two separate servers and I want a function that by just providing a table name and some other parameters for the WHERE part of the SQL, I will be able to copy a chunk of records from one database into the other.

There is a huge number of tables and creating a function for each table with the respective SELECT and INSERT statement would take ages and is not practical.

I was thinking (and don't know how to do it) about getting the data using the SELECT statement and from the recordset retrieved, in some way or another insert in the second database. The function should be independent and have no hardcoded database table column names.

Anyone can please help me?

I am using VB.NET 2.0 and the databases are SQL SERVER 2005

Thank You

I have received a backup of the database created with enterprise manager but am unable to restore it into a database of the same name on my server. Thanks, Kevin

Hi; I thought I would rephrase a question I asked in another post to more quickly get to the heart of the matter. My apologies for anyone who is offended by what appears to be a repetition. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
