Source for VISTA standards in business apps

Can anyone recommend a source for sample apps that demonstrate UIs that meet
the VISTA UI standards such as "top rules for the windows vista user
experience" http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...327.aspx#aero?

The problem I've found is that ALL samples on the net show off the awesome
capabilities of WPF with fancy GUI and features, but nothing that address
the needs of a serious business data entry program which meets the VISTA UI
design standards. I know data entry is boring for most, but its probable
the majority of apps that will be built for businesses and it's the most
overlooked. When I say data entry, most of an app is usually designed for
users to input data such as a properties window for a business objects like
'Customer', 'Transaction', 'an Idea which along with the idea could have
many properties like team members developing the idea, CAPEX, REVEX,
Excepted for implementation, etc.'. Boring yes, but this is the meat and
potatoes of most biz apps. I just downloaded Expression Blend hoping to
find some samples there with no luck. I'm a small shop building apps for
fortune 100 companies and could use some sample UIs as templates to help me
get jump started. Can someone please help me on this? I'm sure there are
others out there with the same needs.

Thanks.

Hi,

Do you mean you don't find samples from the Microsoft Express Blend? You
may access them from the Welcome Screen on the startup, or by clicking
Welcome Screen on the Help menu, and then by clicking the Samples tab.

For more WPF samples, you may visit the following link.

'Application Samples'

Hope this helps.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

thanks Linda,

Yes I've gone through the Expresson Blend examples, but they are vey limited
and focus on showing off really cool gui stuff which is not applicable in
most straight forward business situation. I also looked at the sdk sample,
but those are focused on showing specific functions and features.

What i'm trying to ask for is an example of UIs that show off Vista
standards such as what you can find in this link:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...327.aspx#aero?
I'm not looking for pictures, but a sample app there I can clean code as
templates for this type of UIs.

Hi George,

Thank you for your reply.

I have searched the Internet, but didn't succeed in finding a sample
application that meet the "Top Rules for the Windows Vista User Experience".

These top rules just put forward some rules that we should obey when
developing applications for Windows Vista. I am sorry to say that, in my
opinion, it may not necessary to provide such a sample application that
meets these standards.

If you have any question about these rules, or have difficulty in meeting
these standards, please feel free to let me know.

Hi George,

I have spent more time searching for the sample projects for Vista
standards and found the following resource:

'Windows SDK .NET Framework 3.0 Samples'
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...b6c-8f98-40d0-
880d-c3339c5da01e&di splaylang=en

Hope this helps.

At this moment I use MsAccess and i can build about every databound application i want. Who knows about a serious open source alternative? Because Windows will be a client platform for some time, i prefer a solution that (also) supports Windows. I tried installing my VS2005 Pro on Vista Ultimate 32 bit RTM today and got errors stating that VS2005 was not compatible with Vista. Microsoft......please pull your finger out of my ass and tell me this is a joke. It must be a joke....because I also have read that VS2002 and VS2003 will not be supported on Vista. This clearly violates Microsoft's own terms of support for these products.

I have a rather complex commercial Acc2003 application (tab controls, 50K+ lines of VBA code, etc.) that will not run well at all on Windows Vista Ultimate. Even converting it to an Acc2007 accdb file has no positive effect. I realize that Vista is new and should be avoided like the...

The application installed okay, but attempted installation of SP1 produces an error 1606 ("Could not access network location VS Developers (cannot create group)"). It's hard to believe that any network access error should be fatal to installing the SP, but it's enough to kill it. KB article 886549 describes a fix for the problem by modifying the registry, but it's clearly intended for an OS pre-Vista. A couple of the reg entries listed in...
