Creating Strong Name Keys and Vista

Hi All,

I'm getting "access denied" trying to create a strong name key under
Vista. using sn.exe or going through Visual Studio 2005 to do it is
generating the same results.

I haven't seen any helpful information other than for XP, any one
experiencing this issue and know what I am missing?

Thanks,

Pepper

Hi

I use the "run as Administrator" option for Visual Studio 2005 on
Vista and haven't had any problem signing so perhaps that might do the
trick for you.

Cheers

Actually, you *have* to run Visual Studio 2005 as an Administrator on Vista
in order for everything to work. At least, that's my understanding.

I have seen a few recipes out there that allow for access to DB-API columns by their name instead of column number.. I was wondering if anyone knew of any code snippets that allow for the same thing with the CSV module? thanks! <march>

Our application has three strong-named keys that have to be set up on the local machines. Apparently the Framework can be pushed to the clients with SMS, but I'm being told a human has to do things on the PCs to get handle the keys. Can it be automated? Is it feasible to have a link on a Web page a new user could go to to get not just the Framework but these keys installed?

When it comes to adding records in related tables, Access is really smart. But when I try to do the same using ADO, I am really stupid. Say I have two parent tables (eg Course, Student) and one child table (StudentProgress). The course progress records how a student progresses on a course. I have one course (History) and one student called Maya. I now want to record her grade (64). If I do this in Access using a form, then the form...

Hello sirs, I am trying to understand how strong names work. Suppose I have lib.dll (a .net library), and also MyApplication.exe (a .NET WinApp) . MyApplication uses lib.dll . Suppose someone decompiles lib.dll and replaces code parts, and then recompiles again. When MyApplication.exe will load lib.dll the next time, will it detect that it is a different dll if they have strong names?

Hi, Why is everything some confusng when MS are involved ;-) Anyway, I have my excel export routines working fine, now when I try to build them into my assembly, which has a strong name, I get the Unable to emit assembly: Referenced assembly 'Interop.VBIDE' does not have a strong name message and everything stops. Now I searched the NET and all I can find is

Dear readers, I have some problems with strong keys. What I want to do is basically this. A - create an application (f.x. strongHello.dll) with a strong key. B - import the functions of this dll into a console application (f.x StrongConsoleApp.exe) and run it if I have somehow specified the public part of the strong key and not otherwise.

Hi! In my project I need to use one library in two versions (the old and the new one), so I decided giving them a strong name key. Then I reattached references to those libraries to my project. While recompiling i got an error: " The type 'MyLibrary.Serialization.AutoBinderStruct' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'MyLibrary, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' " ...

My unsigned DLL works in my project that references it as long as I set Copy Local = true. Now I have signed the DLL with the sn.exe generated keys but have not yet moved the DLL into the GAC. Can I use a strong named DLL outside the GAC with Copy Local = false by providing a reference to the public key? If yes to above, please tell me how to reference the public key within

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
