Logon screen for XP Pro

I'm the only user of this computer. It is my home computer. I updated
Windows today and it turned on my Login screen that I had a friend disable
for me. I have tried a system restore and I have tried removing the updates
but to no avail. Is there a way to perninantly disable this login screen?
Can I delete it totally from Windows XP? Is it possible that I can finally
send the dreaded login screen towards the light? Is this thing like Dracula?
Do I need to put a wooden spike through my computer before it will forever
go away???

For me, as you have probably noticed, it is one of the most annoying things
on the face of the earth; next to people who think they can drive properly
but really can't and do stupid things on our highways because they failed
patience school.

Or people who can't post questions to the appropriate newsgroup (like
posting Windows XP questions to a .NET development group).

First, you need to post this to microsoft.publi c.windowsxp, not a .Net
Programming newsgroup.

Second, if you search msdn.com for "login windows xp" you will find the
article that I used to disable *my* login screen.

Got a web app with a Log on screen. Right now I'm using cookieless session state with a timeout of 20 minutes. How can i avoid a situation where the user comes to a logon screen after the session times out (back from lunch etc) and doesn't really understand why after they enter their id and password and click the submit button, the session restarts and they have to logon again. Anyone out there fought this battle and won??

My clients want their employees to log in by scanning a barcode on their passes. I've set up a web page with a text box to capture the scanned barcode. Two questions. 1. Can anyone think of a neat way to authenticate the scanned barcode without any further user action? The barcodes I'm using to play with the system are the ones on my CDs which have an embedded CR, which nicely press the default ASP button, but I may not be able to...

Sorry if this is off topic, I haven't really used this forum a lot so I don't know where to put it. Anyways I have a game application that runs off a list games and users on a file, that I built in Visual C#. I'm running Windows XP Pro and I use the classic startup screen with CAD enabled. I was wondering if it is possible to start that application before the windows logon screen appears and then as soon as the application is done with its...

Hello World How can I change from the classic logon prompt to welcome screen? I cannot use the Welcome Screen (fast user switching) because the client services for netware (i don't know what it is) has disabled it. And also, in order to restore these features, I must uninstall the client services for netware. I checked it from the add/remove programs but i cannot find client services or even the netware. Any idea?

I have SQL 2005 running on a server 2003 computer (Docro-Svr2) and a server 2000 computer (Docro-Svr1) running our Intranet site using IIS ver 5. I am using a DSN-less connection from an ASP script to connect to and access the database files. As long as I run the ASP script from a browser on the Intranet server the script works fine. If I go to any other computer on the domain, the script fails with the following message: Microsoft OLE...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
