MSDE2000
I have an application in which I am running a TSQL command of BACKUP DATABASE and RESTORE DATABASE for the backup and restore commands for my application. For testing purposes, i did the following:
1) Ran a BACKUP DATABASE command to a file named C:\TEST.BAK.
2) Deleted the database completely.
3) Ran a RESTORE DATABASE on the same file (note, I did NOT recreate the database)
Now I have the database back with all my data....

Help,
I have a database that has a data file of 2GB and a log file of 31GB.
In enterprise manager, when I choose shrink it says there is 30GB of
unused space. When I shrink the database, it does not shrink,
(however it says it has completed).
I've done a complete backup, tried shrink again, no dice. I then
backed up the database (which the backup was 1.9GB), deleted the
database and made a new database with 2,048MB for the data and same...

Hi all,
I am trying to move a database from one machine to another.
I backed up in offline mode, then I do a restore (without
rolling forward), which
finishes successfully but with warning 2529 (what's that?)
After that db2syscs hogs pretty much all available memory
on the machine whenever I attempt to connect to the database,
with no end in sight.

Hi ,
I'm wondering what's going on with a restore I'm trying to do .
My DB2 version is a 7.2 on a Linux RH ES 2.1 .
I've copy a recent backup that was on NAS for a test on my machine .
I then restore the backup without creating a database with the simple
command line "db2 restore backup DBNAME".

I'm running the latest version of PostgreSQL. I backed up one of my
databases following the instructions in the postgresql documentation.
This means that I did shut down postmaster and I tarred the data
directory just like it says to. Now, I'd like to restore the file
system. I started by just copying the data directory back, but that
hasn't worked for me. Can somebody please give me some detailed
directions on restoring the file...

In SQL 2000 I have been using Log Shipping to keep a warm backup copy
of all my production databases in a different site. Prior to setting
up my Maintenance Plan to implement log shipping, on my Secondary
server I create the warm backups using the following statement:
RESTORE DATABASE ProdDB FROM DISK = 'E:\Backup\ProdDB\ProdDB.bak'
WITH MOVE 'ProdDB_Data' TO 'E:\DATA\ProdDB.mdf',
MOVE 'ProdDB_Log' TO 'E:\DATA\ProdDB.ldf',
STANDBY =...

For some of my really important tables, I have backup tables in the backend
file. The idea is that if a user accidentally screws up data, they can go to
a form and restore from the backup table (as opposed to having to use a
backup copy of the back-end). In the past, for the table backup operation,
I was simply deleting all of the data from the table backup and then using an
append query of data from the main table. To restore, I was...

I recently installed Visual Studio 2003, after having already installed VS
2005. Unfortunately, it took over all of the file associations. There is
an option in Visual Studio 2005 to restore these associations, under Tools >
Options Environment General. However, this button doesn't seem to do
anything. Specifically, my SLN files were associated to VS 2003, and when I
clicked this, this association didn't change. I even tried deleting...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
