This is driving me nuts. I'm trying to update an Excel spreadsheet using ADO.Net and Oledb in VB.Net. The connection is open, the adapter is connected and the dataset is loaded. Here's the code in question: myDataRow = myDataSet.Tables(0).Rows(RowNum) myDataRow(ColumnCount) = Ailment Adapter.UpdateCommand = New OleDbCommand("UPDATE SET F" & ColumnCount & " = '" & Ailment & "' where F1 = " & RowNum & "", Conn)...

I have looked through the newsgroup for an answer to this but haven't been able to find anything resembling my situation. What I want to do is relatively simple, I think. I have a crosstab query that is bound to a report I am creating. I would like the column headings to be the name of the correspoding field name. For example, I have field names ALS, BCD, HLP, and the detail section prints the values for these fields. I would like...

Hi there, After spending several hours trying all I could imagine and search for in Google I gave up. In a continuous form I want to sort the choosen column by clicking the header (label) of that column. I even want to sort up and down if one clicks again on the same header. No problem so far, all works well for one column. Now I want to sort on the first choosen column ASC or DESC and additionally on a second column ASC. I use the...

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 with the .NET 2.0.50727 framework, and we're using the standard Datagrid control bound to a SQL Server. We have two groups of users - "full edit" users, and "view only" users. We would like to disable the EditCommandColumn of our Datagrid (named dgCertificates) for viewonly users. The intent is that viewonly would, obviously, only be able to view data and not maniupulate it in any way. I've tried the...

Hi all, Following Ian's passionate postings on problems with ALTOBJ and the alter table wizard in the control center I'll try to explain how to use ALTOBJ with this thread. I'm not going to get into the GUI because it is hard to describe in text. First of all what is the purpose of ALTOBJ()? This procedure was created mostly for ISVs who need to do produce change scripts to upgrade application from release to release, but it can also

Is there any way to retrieve column names from a cursor using the ODBC module? Or must I, in advance, create a dictionary of column position and column names for a particular table before I can access column values by column names? I'd prefer sticking with the ODBC module for now because it comes standard in Python. I'm using Python 2.4 at the moment. Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
