I have written this utility class that has a method which calls
another method. I don't want to pass in the self parameter and was
wondering by doing this does it make the function to be private or
uncallable outside of the class.
This code below works, but I didn't really want to pass self into
testBob1(ideally having it as private), I wanted the declaration to be
def testBob1(a). Can someone explains to me why this can't be done ?

I have an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL Server 7 back end. There is a view that
is linked to the database via ODBC and has been in place for several years
without any performance problems.

Is there a tool or view to display the status of a Load utility job on
windows or Unix(say loading few million rows into a table)? I
understand in OS/390 there is a dis utility to show the status of the
utility. Is it also possible in UDB? I'm using UDB 8.1 on windows 2000.

i have this problem. i made a class deverted by CRootItem with
implementation of IDisposable-Interface. i made a test-funktion to test my
Dispose-Method.... but when set a breakpoint in my Dispose-Method and call
the GC nothing happend!!! my Disposemethod has never been called!! so the GC
dont call my Dispose-Method although I implemented IDisposable?
what am i doing wrong?

everywhere. So I've implemented the "Document/View Model" whereby:
- There's a Windows Form, which we'll call "formView"
- There's a Class, which we'll call "classDocument"

with writing a program that involves a class, so I'm somewhat new to
this in Python.
Anyway, what is the best way to create a function (A) within a class
that another function (B) can use? Function A is not something that an
instance will ever call, so I figure it's a choice between static or

defined in the source code. During a cleanup cycle for a library I
would like to ensure that all free and member functions advertised in
the library header files are actually defined inside the library. I
could imagine a utility which processes the header files and spits out

I have public methods in a form. The main form calls them, to update
that form's display. This form is like a real-time view of data that
is changing.
But, the form may not exist (it is created / destroyed at user
request). I can check form != null to prevent incorrect access.
But, the form could disappear immediately after the check, before the
