Changing Access Rights on a File

Jay
Hey There,
I was able to change the access rights to a file through adding an
ACE to the DACL of a file. I have two questions that I am still trying
to get resolved regarding this:

1). When I reboot the machine, the Access Rights go back to the
previous settings, how do I get the modified Access Rights to stick
across reboots?
2). Also, is this information kept in the registry? If so, where in
the registry is it kept?

Thanks,
Jay

Hi, Using VB.NET I need to access a shared drive on a server using a specific account, check for a subdirectory, add it if it doesn't exist and then change the access security for the subdirectory to only allow specific accounts to access it - these will be different to the account used by the app. Thanks for your help.

Greetings, I'm having problems with the use of an Access 2003 Add-In on Windows XP Pro. Administrative-level users have no problems running the Add-In, but those users with restricted rights on the same computer can't use the Add-In. We are cloning a setup to copy to multiple identical machines, and I just want to install the Add-In to be available to All Users without fiddling with rights and manually installing for each person (and

Hi all, On my local pc I have built a webpage which reads data from a ms-access file. No problem at all. When I place the files on our intranet-server I receive an error: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unspecified error When I am a member of the domainadmins it works just fine, so it must be a rights issue. Can anyone tell me what kind of rights are needed to make this work for all users

All I got so far is access denied so I wonder if it's possible. Here's the situation: On a web server using IIS and ASP.NET, my ASP page tries to read a distant file using a path like \\172.31.3.3\reports\file.html. Once it's read, I have

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
