Hi,
I am doing a VB.NET application with SQL Server 2000 and I need to implement
a database search facility that will normally return lots of records. Those
records will then be displayed in a datagrid.
What I want to do is not to create a complete dataset but a partial one, and
whenever i reach the end of the partial dataset i want the database to
return the next part of the dataset.
My first guess would be to create a client cursor and fill it up with say a
100 records. The 100 records are then displayed on the datagrid (and the
vertical scroll bars appear on the datagrid). Attempting to scroll the
datagrid beyond the last (or first) record will generate a db request for
the next 100 records and so on....
The application i am working on is not a web app.
Is this the correct approach to the problem? if yes, how do i define such
cursors on SQLServer2000 ?
Thanks

Hello,
I have a rather large (100+ MB) FASTA file from which I need to
access records in a random order. The FASTA format is a standard format
for storing molecular biological sequences. Each record contains a
header line for describing the sequence that begins with a '>'
(right-angle bracket) followed by lines that contain the actual
sequence data. Three example FASTA records are below:

I have a form with two DataGrids, which are kept in sync manually via
Stored PROCEDURE calls. That is, when a record is selected on the first
grid, a stored PROCEDURE is CALLed to Fill() the next second DataGrid's
DataSource. All that works very well. And, when there are no records to
display, it is simply left blank.
My issue is that when i scroll the first one, sometimes the second grid
shows a bunch of null values (a "new" record).

missed it. Without much further ado, here's the thing (Win, Py2.5):

Hello,
I have a simple script to parse a text file (a visual basic program)
and convert key parts to tcl. Since I am only working on specific
sections and I need it quick, I decided not to learn/try a full blown
parsing module. My simple script works well until it runs into
functions that straddle multiple lines. For example:
Call mass_write(&H0, &HF, &H4, &H0, &H5, &H0, &H6, &H0, &H7, &H0,
&H8, &H0, _

I'm working on examples of programming in several languages, all
(except PHP) running under CGI so that I can show both the source
files and the actually running of the examples online. The first
set of examples, after decoding the HTML FORM contents, merely
verifies the text within a field to make sure it is a valid
representation of an integer, without any junk thrown in, i.e. it
must satisfy the regular expression: ^ *?+ *$

Is there a workaround to the bug that loses the first record in a
continuous form after using the scroll wheel if the available records
don't fill the form? I know that the "up arrow" section of the
scrollbar can be clicked to show the record again but this is hardly
intuitive to the user.
Any help is appreciated.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
