Additional workarounds for Temp File locking?

Our solution contains multiple projects, on some of the
larger projects it appears IntelliSense is locking the
output DLLs and we get the dreaded "Could Not Copy
Temporary Files to the Output Directory" error.

We've followed the guidance provided in this KB
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;313512 but so far the only solution appears to be
restarting VS.NET 2003

Just wondering if there is a more effective (and
productive) workaround?

TIA

Hi all, Over the years, I have had to keep dealing with the same Access restriction - that you can't update a table in a statement that joins it to another non-updateable query or employs a non-updateable subquery. I run across this problem again and again, and yet I've never come up with a single, universal work-around. I'm wondering...

I have a function which clears out a temporary table and then fills it with values from a recordset. One of the table fields is indexed with no duplicates. Very rarely - almost enough to ignore it - two users will call the function at once causing one of the functions to attempt to update the table with duplicate values. Is there a way to...

Hi, When you open a file for writing/appending with open() or fopen(), and you have multiple applications that might want to write to the same file at the same time, could that cause weirdness in the file ? do i have to add manual file locking, or does open()/fopen() provide file locking ? Thanks,

Hi, I am re-writing part of my application using C#. This application starts another process which execute a "legacy" program. Here is the situation: I wrote a VB programm, which stores all the information in a single Access database file using jet engine. It worked well, however one of my customs reported that there was some problems with this programm. I checked, the log files showed that the database was corrupted. The customer told me that there no 'illegal'...

Hi, Trying to open a file for writing that is already open for writing should result in an exception. It's all too easy to accidentally open a shelve for writing twice and this can lead to hard to track down database corruption errors. Amir

I am trying to get multiple threads to lock specific regions of a file. However, since each thread has the same PID, it appears that a lock by one thread does not block another thread from the same process. How does one maintain file locking between sibling threads? - Matt

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
