MDAC 2.8

Hi,

Please if you can read and help me in this questions, as I am beginner in
programming. I am using ADO connection to MS Access database (DAO is not an
option) in VB.NET 2005 project and I have to setup deployment of program.

1. Do you reccomend installation of MDAC 2.8 on user computer? What is gain
in term with lets say ADO 2.6, or 2.7 version?
2. If other program uses MDAC 2.6 and I install MDAC 2.8, will I crush
connection to database of that other program? Sorry if question is stupid.
3. Do you reccomend installation of JET 4.0 SP8 ? Will I corrupt some other
program if I install?
4. I have read that there were some problems with ADO 2.8, is that fixed now
(if informatton is correct)?

Please if you can answer! Thank you.

Take a close look at all the requirements for the client when you develop a
data application based on VS 2005. (Net 2.0, etc)

With the recent MDAC security warning I now have the task of deciding if my company of 9000 desktops should push out an MDAC 2.8 package and upgrade all the machines or simply distribute the MDAC security patch? I'm an not a DBA by any stretch of the imagination. I would like to upgrade the MDAC but am I correct in saying that there could potentially be a problem with that if the MDAC on the server side isn't compatible....let's say 2.7...

I'm having problems using the DB2 Connect ODBC Driver in my SQL Server 2000 DTS packages. It started occuring after installing MDAC 2.7 (which is necessary for the .NET framework). This error occurs when I try to open the transformation that uses an ODBC Connection object that is pointing to the DB2 ODBC. Has anybody else seen this or has a solution other than re-installing everything and not loading the .net framework mdac 2.7. I...

Hi I am deploying a winforms app via the windows installer and a VS.Net 2003 setup and deploymnet project. At the moment, I am adding launch conditions for the .Net Framework 1.1 and MDAC 2.7 or higher, and am prompting the user to run the relevant setup files if they're missing. I'm including these setup files on the CD. I can't work out from the Data Access downloads page, which MDAC file I need

Hi: I am developing an application using FoxPro 2.x tables. My client has AccessXP. AccessXP uses Visual Foxpro ODBC to connect to tables. It does not accept the ISAM Foxpro driver used in A97. I have a problem that when I link to the tables on the client machine AccessXP does not recognize boolean values in the FoxPro tables. I assume this is due to the ODBC driver. I'd like to test this out on my development machine. I...

I need advise. Are there any implications when installing MDAC 2.5 on top of MDAC 2.6 RTM? The applications on client pc's will only be running MS Access. Reason of the downgrade is the server where I pull data from (SQL Server) have MDAC 2.5. Will it be safe to do a straight install without having to uninstall 2.6 first?

I'm trying to add simple database functionality with a Windows Forms app I'm building. FYI my development machine is running Windows XP Pro, with all the service packs installed. First I tried using the standard OLEDB connection string (ie. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
