VS2005 Publish Problem

VS 2005 Professional RTM (8.0.50727.42) on Windows 2000
ASP.NET website

Last week I converted a 1.1 ASP.NET (VB) project to 2.0. The conversion
was
painless on the VB code side. It was a lot of work however converting
from a
pseudo master page to a true master page but only from the HTML 4.0 to
XHTML
1.0 standpoint. VS 2005 IDE seems to be significantly slower than VS
2003. I
upgraded my PC memory to 1GB (which helped) but have an additional 1 GB
on
order. Runtime speed comparable to 2003. Individual page instantiation
is
faster due to precompile (when I could publish).
Anyway, last week I could publish the website to a network share from
the VS
IDE without problems. Today when I try to publish the same site the
action
completes without errors. Unfortunately, no files are published.
Website runs/debugs fine locally
Deleted all files from cache
Cold restart
Attempted publish to local drive
All with same results. If there are any files in the publish to folder,
I
will get a dialog box that notifies that the files in the folder will
be
deleted. That action occurs but no files are published.
This was taken from a post more then 30 days old and I am having the
problem. Can anyone tell me why my files will not publish even though
the publish succeeded?

Thanks

I had the same problem. Finally narrowed it down to a missing </asp:panel> tag. For some reason the project compiles fine with the tag missing, but won't publish a single file.

Basically, how do I know that the release versions of all components are being published? The Build | Configuration Manager is confusing me a little in VS2005. I have three projects in my solution: 1) web service website. 2) SOAP Extension Class Lib that compiles to a dll 3) WinForm application with a proxy to test the web service.

Hi guys I'm trying to migrate to VS2005... I've managed to do that, but realised I'd opened my web projects as file projects, and I'm getting the error about network BIOS command limit. Anyway, I decided to have a go at loading them as web projects from our Win2k3 server. It gets so far and then says "The web server does not appear to have FrontPage server extensions installed".

Hi peeps I've just moved my dev system to Win2k3 / VS2005 (from Win2k/VS2k3) and I'm having a problem. I've setup a new website in IIS, enabled .net, fpse, etc. From VS2005, if I choose Open Website, I can type in the location of my server by entering http://10.0.0.253:4040. That works fine, and VS loads the project.

Hi, I hope I have selected the right group for this question, I am looking for assistance with using VS2005 to create a simple website on my ISP. Using VS2005 I have created a Website project using the file system. I am not trying to do any server side programming, for now simple HTML is sufficient. My site seems to be working fine locally and now I want to publish it to my Comcast directory. Comcast claims that they support FrontPage...

I'm having problems trying to publish an ASP.NET project from VS2005 and was hoping to get some pointers in the right direction. The project works fine from my development system using the internal server (Cassini). Then I use Build/Publish Web Site to publish the app to another server. I specify a URL to where I want it published (http://someserver/MyAppDir). At the time I first publish, the virtual directory MyAppDir does not exist

Hello, My workstation has been automatically updating IE6 to IE7. When this happens I have a problem with Click Once deployment (VS2005). What happens is that I can still publish applications - which brings up IE. In IE6 this would bring up IE to the install page of the deployed app (server\...\publish.htm). Now it just brings up IE7 and hangs. It will say "connecting..." and just hangs there so I have to close down IE and I get the...

I have a pretty large web site with about 400 files after I precompile it. When I use the VS2005 Publish tool and publish to an FTP site, which is running IIS, most of the attempts hang after about 10 minutes. Sometimes it works; sometimes it doesn't. Most times it doesn't. What is really aggravating is that I get no error message from VS2005 when the publish utility stops. It just stops. The only way I can tell that something is wrong...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
