Ok, I asked this question before and I also looked at the book "First Look
at ASP.NET 2.0"
I also read Paul wilson's web page explanation. HOWEVER......
The book and that web page talks about partial types and that IF you have a
Extends keyword, I think, before the class name AND the same Namespace, .NET
will automatically compile the rest of the class that is located in another
file.
However, I want to know just exactly how is .NET...

Hi,
does anyone know how to use this method:
GetCompiledPageInstance(string, string, HttpContext)
Regardless what I try I get exception that some
"path" is Null. I guess that this path is temporary
folder for compiled ASPX pages with funny numeric names,
when debugging ASPX page one can see these names in
output window. I tried to modify the Cassini sample,
HttpRuntime can process the request but I cannot get

Hi,
I've created a little site for my sports club. In the root folder there are
pages that are viewable by every anonymous user but at a certain subfolder
my administration pages should be protected by forms authentication.
When I create forms authentication at root level it works but when I move my
code up to the subfolder I get this error:
Server Error in '/TestProjects/FormsAuthenticationTestingArea' Application.

Hi,
I have an issue debugging my asp.net project. On a particular aspx
page, in the code behind cs file, my breakpoints are not being hit. The
breakpoint is in the Page_Load() method and is a proper line of code
where a variable is assigned a value (not a blank line, curly brace or
anything else).
Breakpoints on other .cs code behind files pages in my project are hit
without any problems, the issue is with this single page.

My ASP.NET application is written using C# script as well as C#
code-behind.
After setting a breakpoint in the script and running the application,
I click from one page to the next but when I get to the page where the
breakpoint is, the code doesn't break in the IDE at the breakpoint.
The breakpoint is in a Page_Load section. All pages in my app are in
the same directory and use relative linking to move from one page to
the next. No...

Can someone tell me to what process I need to attach to be able to step
through my classic ASP code in VS.net 2003. I'm working on an XP box with
IIS installed. I also have VS.net 2005 (The final, never installed beta)
installed on this box if it makes a difference (I did not install VS
Development Web Server as I'm already using the XP web server).
I've seen that I need to attach to the native IIS engine, but I don't know
what it's...

I'm having troubles getting the debugging process to work consistenly for
external classes. I got it to work once and then I turned it off. But now I
can't get re-enabled. Here is what I'm doing. If someone could tell me what
I'm missing that would be great.
1. Create an external class and call it Test.dll.
2. Create a test Asp.net app called App.sln.
3. For App.sln I set a reference to Test.dll.
4. Compile App.sln and run it. The web...

Hi Everyone,
Occasionally i'm getting the following error logged. I've heard this
can be caused by proxy servers. Does anyone know anyways to resolve the
issue or anything else that could cause the issue.
Thanks

This is a simplified version of my site.
There are Premium users who have access to the Premium directory.
Anyone else attempting to access it should be logged and then
redirected to the Premium.aspx - which explains the advantages of
being a Premium member and provides examples of content.
The default page for site visitors is "News/Default.aspx" but only
those with cookies set should go there otherwise visitors need to
login to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
