Can VS.Net 2003 coexist with VS6

Hi,

I currently have VS6 on my machine (Win2000 Advanced
Server). Can I install VS.net 2003 on the same machine
and keep both? I am a developer and need both. Please
advise what I need to do so that I don't step on dll's,
etc.

thanks in advance

Hi Meryl,

I am using both VS6 and VS.Net 2003 on the same machine and haven't
experienced any issues till date.
So the answer to your question is YES.

Cheers,
Gary

Dear all has anyone tried installing Visual Studio .NET 2003 into system that already has Visual Studio v6 installed. Will it cause any problem with the older Visual studio, like pointing to the wrong header and lib file and etc? I learn from the MSDN site that it suppose to be able to coexist but won't dare to try... regards dan

Hi. A couple of months ago, I ordered the Visual Studio .NET upgrade from Microsoft and installed it. Today, I just realized that I have both the 2002 and 2003 IDEs on my system. Did I do something wrong upgrading? I thought that the 2002 IDE would be upgraded and essentially become the 2003 IDE. I didn't realize that I'd have both IDEs on my system.

We have VS.NET 2003, .NET 1.1, and SQL Server 2000 installed locally on each of our developer workstations. We will need to keep these tools installed for maintaining old applications, but intend on developing new applications using ASP.NET 2.0, VS 2005, and SQL Server 2005. Are there any barriers in running these products side by side assuming we wait to install the live versions released in a couple weeks? Thanks in advance. Mark

We are running an Access 2000 MDB with a SQL 7 back end. Our network guy is upgrading to Windows Server 2003 and wants to upgrade Office and SQL Server at the same time. We're moving to SQL Server 2005, and, since he already has licenses for Office Pro 2002, he wants to upgrade to that. I've been saying that we need to upgrade to Access 2003, not 2002, even if Office is kept at 2002. We are also looking to do a fair amount of...

If I upgrade a PC from VS 2003 to VS 2005, can I run either of them or will I only be able to use VS 2005? I have a project that was started in VS 2003 that is about to go into production. I am reluctant to make the switch for this project just yet though. I would like to be able to run VS 2003 if necessay for when I work on the old project, is this possible?

Hi. When I try to run Visual Studio 2003 I get the message "MS development environment is not installed for the current user. Please run setup to install the application." Is there any way to work around this without reinstalling VS 2003? Also, can VS 2003 and VS 2005 coexist?

Hi, In my office I have Office 2003 on the PC. I created an Access application which has a component reference to Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library. The problem that I am having now it that in my home PC I also have Office 2003, but I only have Microsoft Office 11.0 Object Library in it and not Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library, so the application does not work right.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
