Remoting - influence WSDL generation

Hi there,

I have a very general question about .NET remoting using SOAP: is there any
way to influence WSDL generation (like setting a different target-namespace,
or which classes (e.g. custom return types) are added to WSDL)? The
background is that I would like to (ab-) use .NET remoting for offering
"webservice s", which are consumed by java applications (AXIS is used for
generating client-proxy-classes) via SOAP. It works in general, but the
usage would be more handy when some modifications within the generated WSDL
would be possible.

The reasons for favoring.NET remoting over ASP.NET webservices are:
* no IIS necessary
* ease of integration into the application and offering several services can
be managed by the application at runtime.
* no applications from "ouside" of the department access the "service", so I
have control about the accessing java-applications. Also no special security
issues are necessary.
As I read, this solution is in general not recommended by microsoft. I would
be glad if someone could tell me possible problems in which I could run into
when choosing .NET remoting for my project.

thx,
Albert

I have a way for doing plugin's in my gui app. These plugins have to talk to a webservice to do database calls. I've done the DB access as a web service so it can be shared with the rest of the company, if not for the want of reuse the gui app would have just simply accessed the DB Directly and each plugin in would have been fully self contained. Each time I create a new gui plugin I find myself modifying the web service to add new support...

I am trying to eliminate the capability of displaying the details of a web service by disabling WSDL generation in the web.config file. I have made the following changes to the web.config: <webServices> <wsdlHelpGenerator href="helpPage.aspx"/> <protocols> <remove name="Documentation" /> </protocols> </webServices>

Hi, I looked for a solution to talk to a web service which offers its signature with a wsdl file. I googled for 'wsdl python' and found ZSI. This project uses code generation. That's something I don't like.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
