Worker Process Errors

We have upgrading an existing ASP.NET 1.1 We application to ASP.NET 2.0 using
the migration tool.

While we had no problems with IIS Worker Process Threads with the 1.1
version, as soon as we did the upgrade we started getting intermittant
W3wp.exe errors stating that the worker process either could not read or
could not write to a particular memory location.

We are getting numerous errors in the event log like:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.1830, faulting module
webengine.dll, version 2.0.50727.42, fault address 0x00002fec.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
---------------------------------------------------------------

This error occurs regularly on our high demand web server and less regularly
on our deployment server and each of our development servers. It has only
occured since we installed ASP.NET asd Visual Studio 2005.

The website is in main the standard sort of stuff. We do use httphandlers to
intercept requests for images and web requests and stream a lot of content
directly from SQL databases.

Any thoughts to the possible cause and how we can go about isolating it?

Hi... We're looking at moving an ASP app from IIS 5 to IIS 6. In general things seem to be working okay, but there are some oddities around the edges. One of those unanticipated changes has to do with the new process model and the option to have more than one worker process per web instance. We found that each worker process has its own Application() state and anything your app puts there/uses gets a new copy for every worker...

Hello All, In IIS 6.0 We have a concept of worker processes and application pools. As I understand it, we can have multiple worker process per appliction pool. Each worker process is dedicated to a pool. If I assign only one application to a applicaton pool and have multiple worker processes assigned to that pool. Will my application be processed by many worker processes?

Hello, I have a multithreaded windows NT service application (vb.net 2003) that I am working on (my first one), which reads a message queue and creates multiple threads to perform the processing for long running reports. When the processing is complete it uses crystal reports to load a template file, populate it, and then export it to a PDF. It works fine so far....

Hello All, I have a question about worker processes and session state. If I set-up a web farm architecture by having multiple worker processes serving a single application, how will the session state be affected? For example, let's consider that a user A requested for page A and after some time the same user requests page B. In both these cases, will a new Session ID be created?

In a Vista/IIS7 asp.net app, a coded crystal report export is crashing IIS7....but it works just fine in visual studio's cassini web server. And if I create a web form and use the crystal reports web viewer, view the report and then export from the viewer it also works fine (IIS7 and cassini). And I should note this all works fine in IIS6 on win2003 or in xp. So my thought with all this is that something is going on with IIS7, so...

I'm using the Application_Start event at Global.asax.cs to invoke thread that do some job. I know that Application_Start event occurs when the very first request to Web Application received. - Setting worker process count 1. Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Internet Information Services 2. Right-click on the application pool, e.g. ‘DefaultAppPool’, and select ‘Properties’

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
