device manager problems!

ok i haven't had internet in about 3 months but i just got dial up at home
and my modem wasn't responding so what do i find in the device
manager...NOTHI NG!!!! i have already tried turning plug and play on but it
didn't work! so if anyone knows something please help me out thank you very
