Tools for WebServices

Hi there. I'm dealing with the message errors: "an unexpected error occurred
on a send" / "an unexpected error occurred on a receive". I'd like to know
what does happen when the WebService i'm calling is being invoked. In order
to achieve this, is there any tool (either in VS.Net or from third party)
that allows me to make this "trace"? Thanks.

Hi,

You can set a breakpoint in your web service and see what is actually
happening. Or you can open the web service in IE - it should provide more
convenient to use information.

Hi This might be slightly OT, but I couldn't find a better NG for this question The question is regarding versioning of webservices. A webservice end point URL basically consists of a base company URL and a webservice name, e.g… webservices.MyCompany.com/MyService we want to be able to host several versions of a particular webservice at the same time, so we want the version id to be part of the end point URL. This is consistent...

I just had a discussion with one of my fellow programmers. We have a class for doing some logging and sending an email, it has 5 different scenarioes of loggin that are common enough to share a class and database tables. In the future there might be new scenarioes that require their own custom classes and database tables. Now we want to expose some of our logging class's methods as webservices (more a group of function calls called in...

Hello Guys, I have a question with regards to the efficiency and best practices in .NET framework. We are currently using Webservices as normal classes. The way we are invoking methods in these Webservices is by instantiating objects of these Webservices and not by adding web references to these services... My question is "Would there be any performance or efficiency overhead, if we

Hi guys, my company was wondering if it's possible to develop ASP.NET/Webservices easily using a IIS installed on a server instead of installing IIS locally on the development boxes. Can you develop for ASP.NET/Webservices without IIS installed on your local box without having to resort to more difficult debugging or using notepad for development? Thanks for the help!!

any one have any idea how transactions could be enabled in webservices. i.e., suppose i've got 2 methods - one to add a contact, & the other to set some miscellaneous details for the contact, in a webservice. Now the client uses the above two methods & if the client is happy with the return values of the above two methdos, ONLY then are the changes made on the server to be commited. (there'd be three other methods, begin-transaction,...

We have a smart device application running on handhelds(Symbol MC9000G). The backend is Oracle and a middle tier web services development done in Vb.net. We use pessimistic Locking due to specific business needs When such a lock is made for a transaction (this code is in the web service) and the handhelds are terminated abnormally (cold booted or battery low), the lock still remains. The Web service's connection to oracle is still...

Hi, I have written a stand alone WinForms application with an MS Access back-end for the (small)company I work for. They are now talking about moving a part of their operations into a second site 50 miles away from the main one. The second site will simply be a stores. They will need some software in order to do a few things here, but this will probably come down to half a dozen or so main functions (booking stock in, issuing stock etc)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
