In your web.config file, use the <identity> element. The syntax is
<identity impersonate="tr ue|false" userName="domai n\username"
password="passw ord"/>

Complete info about it can be found at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/72wdk8cc.aspx

i believe you need to use Impersonation. search in msdn for "impersonat ion
asp.net" and you should find the answer as i don't remember right now
exactly how to do it.

I have an existing ASP/ MSSQL project that we are looking at migrating to VB.Net (standalone app, not ASP) which will still interact with a single central SQL server. Because we have a requirement to "filter" data returned depending on the user's permission to certain classes of data we hava all access implemented via stored procedures. Another reason for using SPs is that certain tables have a requirement to keep track of who made...

I recently created some intranet web sevices to expose stored procedures on our SQL Servers (SQL2k). The stored procedures include an audit trail with user/login identification, so the web services are set up for Windows integrated authentication. The web sevices work well when they are hosted on IIS on my Win2k Pro development machine. I have tried accessing the services under several user accounts on several machines, including...

I have a webservice based app that a company has purchased to use internally. They want the authentication to integrate with their Active Directory. Is there anyway that the client portion of the application (which is a .NET WinForms app) can send some information about the logged in user so that I could athenticate that user before accessing the database? The database will not have individual user accounts but will authenticate using a...

Hi, Scenario: The webservice was developed on windows 2000 Pro and deployed previously on windows XP pro for testing. We have tested for many days. The client for that service was 30+ and accessing the webservice each min. It was working 100% fine. Problem: But now in actual deployment, we have deployed webservice in Win Server 2003 and we have used all the default configurations. Now the clients are accessing that service the same way...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
