throwing custom exceptions from webservices

Hi All,

I have a problem in throwing custom exceptions from a webservice method.
The custom exception is being converted into soapexception in the webservice
client. only the custom exception message is present in the soapexception .

Is there any way to get the exact custom exception instead of soapexception?

Thanks in advance

with regards,

I've been struggling with this question for a while. What is better design? To design functions to return error codes when an error occures, or to have them throw exceptions. If you chose the former, i have a few questions that need to be answered. 1) What about functions that need to return a value regardless of the error. How can they also return an error code unless the function has "output" parameters. This seems messy and...

People say that is a bad technique to throw exception from constructors; and that the solution would be to create a function _create_ to initialize an object. What about copy constructors? How can we avoid throwing exceptions? If we already have an abject witch was initialized wit _create_ we will be forced to call create in copy constructor and to throw exceptions from it. Have a nice day,

Is it appropriate to throw exception from a constructor? Thats the only way i could think of to denote the failure of constructor, wherein i am invoking couple of other classes to initialise the object. TIA Sek

This is a long one, so I'll summarize: 1. What are your opinions on raising an exception within the constructor of a (custom) exception? 2. How do -you- validate arguments in your own exception constructors? I've noticed that, f.ex., ArgumentException accepts null arguments without raising ArgumentNullException. Obviously, if nothing is to be supplied to the exception constructor, the default constructor should

Hello, I have a c# com object that exposes several methods. This com object is to be used in vbscripts as well as vba scripts. In my application error handling is done by throwing different types of custom exceptions. The problem is that when theses exceptions are caught by the vbscript the type of the exception is unknown. Therefore I would need Err.Number to determine what kind of exception was thrown. Unfortunately I have not been...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
