I am using SQL 8 Personal edition with sp2 applied. I set the max
server memory to 32MB and leave the min server memory at 0. When my
application starts hitting the database hard the memory usage reported
through task manager peaks between 41-42MB. I've stopped and restarted
the MSSQLserver service and checked that the running values are what I
set them to be. Does anybody have any ideas as to why the sqlservr.exe
would be utilizing more...

I have a .NET application that I am developing in C# I am loading
information in from a dataset, and then pushing the dataset to a grid, or
other controls depending on the particular form. This application is setup
with one MDI parent calling MDI children with the exception of one Modal
form (the report viewer).
When I run the application and run one of the screens that pulls...

How can I limit the use of the PC's virtual memory? I'm running a process
that basically takes a txt file and loads it to a datatable. The problem is
that the file is over 400,000 lines long (77 MB) and after a while I get the
Windows message saying that the virtual memory's getting really low. Plus
the machine gets really sluggish (with multi-threading). Is it possible to
use the virtual memory until it reaches a certain limit and then use...

I have a C# application written as a Windows Service. It spawns a
number of threads, each thread has very large memory intensive
processes running on it. I can keep adding threads as long as the
"committed byte" utilization of the server stays below 2.5 gigs As
soon as we go over that amount we receive "System.OutOfMemoryException"
exceptions. I'm not sure what causes the 2.5 gig limit but we
consistently hit it on all of our ...

We are having issues with our windows services using memory and never
releasing it. We have one service that has a file watcher which takes an xml
file, inserts some records into a database, and creates a bunch of PDFs with
Crystal Reports. Another service is a remote object which serves as our data
access component -- basically it just executes stored procedures and returns
datasets. If you watch the services in task manager, you can...

I am trying to identify whether a .NET 1.1 application that I have
written has a memory leak. I thought I understood how .NET memory
management worked, but it appears that there is more to it than I
realised.
I have created a simple app that creates a byte array which is stored
as a member of the application's main form.
The important code is shown below.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
