Ports required for WMI

Hi,

We are using an application (the application uses WMI componenets) to change
the IIS metabase of Server A from Server B. There is a firewall between
Server A and Server B. Couple of weeks back we tested the application and it
worked fine with ports 135 and 1331 open. Now its not working any more and we
are seeing that it is not working because ports 137 and 4332 are closed.
(Please note that it did not require ports 137 and 4332 before). When we
opened port 137, it started throwing error for ports 2255.

I will greatly appreciate if anyone can comments on the followings:

1. What are the ports required for WMI connection?

2. Is there any way to specify the port numbers?

Thanks

I need to get a list of "Open"/In-Use TCP Ports (actually to see if there is a cponnection with a destination Port of 21) I think what I'm after is similar to the output of netstat. I could run netstat and parse the output, but I'd prefer not to as I'm going to be doing this in a service and it needs to monitor the ports every few seconds. Any advice on how I can do it.

I am trying to program a server in C for UNIX to get a kind of "bridge" between the clients of a port A and the clients of a port B. For that, I create 2 processes: one that listen the requests of port A clients and another for the Port B ones. In each process, when a connetion service is required, after accepting , the value of the socket generated is added to a set of sockets. This set keeps on listening on each socket for new...

I want to fill a list box with the "friendly" names for the serial ports installed on a system, yet I also need to query the names required to connect to that port. ie I enumerate the friendly names of the Ports using the SetupDiGetDeviceRegistryProperty api call passing SPDRP_FRIENDLYNAME to get the friendly name "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM3)", but I also need to know how to get the "COM3" part on its own. I tried changing the...

Basically, I'm thinking about building a robot which can be controlled by programs which I write, I'm going to interface to the robot through the parallel port (like in this tutorial here: linuxfocus.org/English/May2001/article205.shtml). However, I know that this will probably need to be done in low level C. Now, although I can code in C, I don't particularly want to :-) , instead I'd like to use Python. I'm wondering, is there any way I...

Hi. I wrote a .NET application which uses WSE2 & WSE3 to communicate with multiple web services. Now some of the people which are using it are saying that the application is blocked by their firewall software, so they manually must open the required ports. Which is the easiest way to see all the ports that must be opened? Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
