Missing performance counters for aspnet_wp

All of my web servers are running win2000 and .NET 1.1 SP1. On one of my
test web servers when I open Perfmon and add a new counter, aspnet_wp is
missing. For example I want to see how many exceptions are thown per second
by the aspnet_wp - so I pick the ".NET CLR Exceptions" performance object,
then select "# of Excepts Thrown / sec" and in the listbox on the right what
should be displayed is "_Global_" and "aspnet_wp" . I normally would select
aspnet_wp, and that is what I select on all my web servers accept this one.
Does anyone have any idea why it is missing or how to restore it? Does
anyone else find perfmon the most maddening, fragile, unreliable application
on a windows server?

Thanks,
Grady

Hello group, I'm trying to write code to test an application we're developing. This application needs to store its own performance data in the registry, and we'd like to be storing quite a large amount of performance data and updating it fairly quickly. Not surprisingly, we keep coming up with more and more performance data we'd like to be writing to the registry. My job is to come up with a test harness to establish the following:...

Hi, I've been working with the EIF for a few days now. One of the default event sinks provided is the WMI. I've played around a bit and can send events to the WMI. My question here centers on performance counters and the WMI. Is there any way to increase a performance counter in the WMI through the EIF or am I barking up the wrong tree (I know that .NET has other classes which allow you to manipulate performance counters)?

Hi, I need to create a dialog like the 'Add Counters' dialog box in perfmon. I'm using the System.Diagnostics namespace class in .NET and I've managed to do it. The problem arises when I'm using such dialog box on a non-English Windows OS (I'm currently testing on Spanish WinXP Professional). I'm noticing that on non-English Windows OS there are some categories whose

There is c# code written for Plumtree Portal. It has been noticed that the aspnet_wp Handle Count on the Portal server is gradually increasing and hence a gradual decrease in the performance. Can anybody provide more details about this aspnet_wp handle count and the performance counter and ways to keep the handle count within the prescribed limits? i read somewhere that Handle Count: Threshold is 10000 A handle count of 2000 in aspnet_wp is...

Hi Has anybody had any experience of ASP.Net performance counters not updating. In the performance monitor application when I try to add the groups ASP.NET and ASP.NET Applications the counters all show 0. In addition, ASP.NET Applications does not show any of the ASP.NET instances that are running on the computer. The other counters for example % processor time work fine. The problem machine is a test server running Win2003. ...

Hello, I was just testing VB.Net on Framework.Net 2.0 performance when I run into the this problem. This trivial code attached below executed hundreds, if not thousand times faster in VB 6.0 than in .Net environment, under VS 2005 Beta 2. Does anyone have any idea whether this will be addressed in the final release? Thanks, Tomasz

I am experiencing a particular problem with performance counters. I have created a set of classes, that uses System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounter to increment custom performance counters (using .Net 2.0) The performance counter categories have been successfully created. When the set of classes are used by a WinForm test harness application, they function as expected, and the performance counters can be seen to be updated by using the...

I have a .Net web service (written for 1.1 Framework using C#) running on Windows 2003 with all latest patches. To help monitor the service, the code creates several performance counters. One server (this is a farm) I receive the following exception when trying to create the performance counters. We had an earlier issue where the ASPNET user account did not have the 'Performance Monitor' group. The exception was an access denied when trying...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
