For open ports (rather than "not closed connections") use
netstat

Access97 Database The database is split into a frontend and backend and not connected to any other database. The database has an unbound report with 15 subreports. Some of the subreports include Excel charts in unbound object frames. When I add 3 additional subreports, I get the error message that Access can't open any more databases. Can...

When I develop a web app, I open and close connections on each page, executing multiple commands as necessary within the single open connection. However, I recently ran into a group of people that create a global connection for their web applications and share it across sessions/users/pages. Both models "work", but the second method makes me...

I'm sorry about this verbose posting. This is a follow-up to my yesterday's posting. Thanks William for your reply. I understand it is a good practice to open connections as late as possible and close them as early as possible. My requirement is as follows: I'm developing a class library that will be instantiated by a COM component. My class...

I've been working on an asp.net application and everything's been great. But suddenly, whether I'm tyring to use a database on my own machine, or on my server, I'm getting a timeout when trying to open a database connection. The error seems to happen regardless of what ASP.NET app I'm working with/trying to debug. It will open a few...

I need to come up with a tool to compare the table definition and/or its data before and after some modification to the DDL or some tests (that change the data). Does DB2 come with such a tool, or do I need to write my own? Thanks.

My app has an asynchronous socket server. It will have 20 clients connected to the server. Each client sends data every 500 millisecondsThe Connections once established will not be closed unless there is a problem with the connection. I need to know which client has sent the incoming data as each client has its own buffer on my "server"...

Hi I've a class that creates a connection to a database, gets and loop on a dataset given a query and then close the connection. When I use netstat viewer to see if there is any connection open left, I always see that there are 2 connections open and in "ESTABLISHED" state. Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention.
