Remove VS2002 after VS2003 Upgrade

I recently upgraded to Visual Studio.Net 2003. I'm a bit hesitant to
remove VS2002.Net in fear of the removal messing up 2003. However, I
need the disk space but don't want the hassle of restoring, etc. Has
anyone had any experience removing 2002 following a 2003 upgrade? It is
Enterprise Developer if that matters. Thanks.

Hello,

Removing VS 2002 shouldn't cause any problems--and if it does, please post
here and let us know! :)

Here are a couple things to keep in mind, though:
-- If you open a solution created with Visual Studio .NET 2002 in Visual
Studio .NET 2003 and save the solution, you can no longer open the solution
in Visual Studio .NET 2002.
-- Although it is possible to target version 1.0 of the common language
runtime from Visual Studio .NET 2003, it is highly recommended that you use
Visual Studio .NET 2002 for that instead.

Hope this helps,
Molly

I have both VS2002 and VS2003 installed on the same machine and have no problems creating an ASP.NET application in VS2003. When I try to create one in VS2003 I get an "internal server error". If I open Windows Explorer, and create a new folder under C:\Inetpub\wwwroot and then open IIS Manager and set the folder property to CREATE I can then create a ASP.NET appliaction in that folder. Any ideas as to what I need to do to get VS2003...

I have been away from .NET development for 18 months. I recently installed VisualStudio 2003. I have no trouble compiling and running new C# ASP.Net projects, but when I try to open and run one of the ASP.Net projects I wrote under VS2002, I get the following error: "Unable to start debugging on the web server. Project is not configured to be debugged."

Hello, I see that VS2005 and the new framework 2.0 is out to the public now. Wondering about some things. When you install the new framework 2.0 can a person still use visual studio 2003 or do you need to use Visual Studio 2005? If you can use the new framework 2.0 with VS2003 are there any benifits?

Can anybody tell me if there is a list/discussion anywhere about possible problems/issues/differences when upgrading a desktop app from VS2002 to VS2003? I have an app that uses datagrid/dataview with databound combobox involving code that can either set the ComboBox value based on a value in the datagrid, or set the value in the datagrid based on the selected item in the ComboBox. It worked fine when built with VS2002 but doesn't with...

I just converted a solution from Visual Studio 2002 to Visual Studio 2003 and was somewhat curious about the change in file sizes. The .msi install file generated by VS2002 was 264K but increased to 485K when generated by VS2003. On the other hand, when I .zip the solution folder for archiving, the ..zipped size for VS2002 was 7898K but dropped to 4661K when generated by VS2003.

I have a requirement to use simple project files which were created on 2003 on 2002 version of .NET. This is because the customer site does not yet have 2003 but the course projects were written in 2003. I have loaded the 1.1 framework on vs2002 but need to know if there is a simple or otherwise way to change the project somehow to make it load on 2002? TIA

OK, I'll admit it up front - I just don't get it. Here's our previous VS2003 development model. Developers develop the WS solution on their own workstations, using their own IIS web servers mapped to the local devleopment folder. Project compiles to a subfolder .\bin. To deploy, the asmx page and bin subfolder are copied to the production server. So now I upgrade to VS2005. OK, so except for the name, everything is changed. No more...

All, Who played with that? Is it possible to use VB.NET and C# projects in one solution in VS2002/2003? Or this feature appeared only in VS2005? If yes, then what kind of traps are on this way? I see that I can add a VB.NET class library project to my VS2003 solution, I can add a reference to my existing project in C#, I even can add USING to C# source code, although it already doesn't have any intellisense comparing to all other...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
