WebService Timout in Debug Mode

I seem to only be able to use a webservice after I compile a project and run
the executable code. When I try to run the code in Visual Studio 2003 in debug
mode it always hangs on the "this.Invok e" line of the webservice wrapper and
gives me a timeout error.

I know it's not a problem with the code since it runs fine in the EXE. I
started having this problem on the same machine 2 weeks ago. To my knowledge I
didn't change anything in Visual Studio or my Machine other than installing
Windows XP Service Pack.

Any help would be appreciated.

After many more hours of researching I am still not able to debug a project
that consumes a webservice.

Am I the only developer out here who is having this same problem?

Hi all, I'm new to asp.net and are just working on a few examples to get some practice. The following is a simple webservice with two web methods. The HowMuchWillItCost method works fine the GetProductInfo method returns http 500 internal server error. Maybe someone could tell me what am I doing wrong? I suspect it has something to do with connecting to the DB but can't figure out what exactly is causing the error. TIA Rich

Dear All, I have observed that if I call a synchronous WebService from my aspx page then even if I set oProxy.TimeOut = 1000, the WebService thread execution is still running... Since my WebService might run a big query that a client has written, it eventually recycles my workerprocess... How to I abort the WebService execution I tried to set httpRuntime executionTimeout in my Web.Config and Machine.config... <httpRuntime...

Is there a secret trick to debugging a Web service? I compile my web service and test app in debug mode. The webservice has <compilation defaultLanguage="vb" debug="true" /> in web.config. I set breakpoints in my web service. I try to step into my web services with F11 from my test app. My webservices executes, but I never reach my breakpoint and my webservice never executes in debug mode.

I am trying to debug a webservice by steping into a web method called from a windows form project. The strange thing is that sometimes it works but often it does not. When it does not work I get the following error when trying to step into a web method: Unable to automatically step into the server. The remote procedure could not be debugged. This usually indicaes that debugging has not been enabled on the server. See help for...

I have a client application and a webservice. Both are in the same solution. If I reference the local webservice and run, and step into the webservice no problem. My question is, when I want to publish the webservice, do i have to keep changing the reference from the local copy to the remote copy(on server) ? My ultimate goal is to be able to debug the webservice. Currently my client app even in debug mode has the reference to the remote...

I am learning how to create Web services. I have followed all the instructions in the books that I got and the code runs fine in debug mode. When I publish the Web Service it seems that the ASMX file works fine. When I run the Web Client project (independent from the WS) it runs fine in debug mode in my local machine. Here is the problem, when I copy the Web Client to another web site but in the same server as the WS, I get an error message...

Hello, I just created a Hello World webservice in VB2005 (this is my first webservice ever). I ran it in debug mode and the page that came up said Hello World and said to change the webservice namespace from tempuri.org to something else so that the xml file could be created. I did that. Then it said to make a web reference (say what?) The only web reference I was able to make was to the local solution: Local Host. Then in the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
