I have been reading many of the posts about determining which network
card to use (in a machine with multiple nics), and determining whether
or not that card is active. I'm hoping this will help others who are
struggling with the same issues. This info exists in the groups, but
not all in the same place.
Thanks to everyone who contributes. Well done!
Consider the following code:

I'm trying to use a statically linked C library. I've wrapped a .NET C++ DLL
around this lib and trying to drive the wrapper from a .NET VB testbed. The
whole build succeeds but I get the following error message at runtime:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.TypeLoadException' occurred in
TiffLibXTester.exe
Additional information: Could not load type tiff from assembly TiffLibX,
Version=1.0.1425.19884, Culture=neutral,...

Hi, I want to initialize a static String array in MC++. What I want to
do is to initialize my String array like the C# way: new String
{"11", "22"} but I could not find an equivalent in MC++. The onlu
thing I can do is this: new String* but I cannot specified any
initial values... Did someone have any ideas???
Here is an example of what I want to do:

In the book *Programming C#* 4th editionby Jesse Liberty, it reads
"Actually, the CLR guarantees to start running the static constructor
before anything else is done with your class. However, it only
guarantees to *start* running the static constructor; it doesn't
actually guarantee to *finish* running it." Page 82, Chap 4 Classes and
Objects.
If it is true, then it is possible that some static fields are not
initialized (by static...

Hi,
I have a rather interesting problem. I have a unmanged c++ class
which needs to communicate information to managed c++ via callbacks,
with a layer of c# on top of the managed c++ ultimatley retreiving the
data. Presently all of the c++ code is still in .NET 1.1, so we're
using a _nogc bridge class wrapped in a _gc c++ class in order to
facilitate this interop.
But we've converted everything not c++ to .NET 2.0 and would love to

I'm converting MC++ to C++/CLI and for some reason it's not cool with
static const System::String^
How am I supposed to have static constant strings then?

I have an abstract base class defined in an MC++ class library. I then
create a descendent class in a C# class library. This seems to work OK with
the exception of one of the abstract member functions/pure virtual function
that uses a passed in pointer to a long.
Just using pointers in the C# library results in the expected: Pointers and
fixed size buffers may only be used in an unsafe context. And using the
'ref' keyword doesn't...

I keep getting a "Missing ; from statement"
Also how do you reference the linkage id? I'm completely stuck. What i am trying ot do is write a script that selects a movieclip from the library, exports it as a Flash movie (swf) to an external folder and names the swf as the linkage ID in the moveiclip, then iterate through the rest of the movie clips in the library until it has exported all movieclips in the library.
Here is what i have so...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
