Schema Valdiation error

I try to validate a complex schema using XSD and I get a series of errors of the following format:

Validation Error:'http://xml.msdw.com/ns/mdco/data/1.0:tradeSymbol ' cannot be a member of substitution group with head element 'http://xml.msdw.com/ns/mdco/xml/2.0:abstractIde ntifier'.
An error occurred at file:///c:/mdco_data_1.0.x sd, (48, 3). Severity:Error

This schema was generated with XML Spy and no validation error were generater there.
How shall I interpret this error - a violation of the XML Schema spec or a problem with the XSD.EXE?
I am currently running on version 1.1 of the .NET Framework (v1.1.4322 to be more precise)

Thank you for your help

Hi,

Is the type of tradeSymbol derived from the type of abstractIdentif ier (or
do they have the same type?). That must be the case in order to use
substitution groups.

In general, I wouldn't necessarily assume that a schema is valid because
XMLSpy doesn't raise any errors. There are a number of fine points of XML
Schema that XMLSpy doesn't implement 100% correctly.

Hope that helps,
Priscilla

Hi I'm stuck with the following schema validation problem in VS.NET 2003: I have two types of xml document and related schema: project and projectCollection. A projectcollection is just a set of projects. Therefore, I wish to include the project customType in the projectCollection namespace. I therefore have declared two xsd documents: project.xsd and projectcollection.xsd

Hi all, I've got a CompareValidator comparing the value of one drop down against another this works without any problems except that whenever another control on my page with AutoPostBack set to true is fired the validation error message is lost. I have tried testing postback in my Page_Load event and then called Page.Validate but this has had no effect.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
