Adding data (autoincrement) into a xml file with the help of a dataset

Hi,

I have a strange problem with my xml file. In the schema of this xml
file I have set one column to autoincrement. When I enter the data in
my xml file directly, the autoincrement-column gets its correct
values.

Now I want to add new data with the help of a dataset. I use the
following lines of code:

Dim ds_functions As New DataSet
ds_functions.Re adXml("Test.xml ")

Dim drCurrent As DataRow
drCurrent = ds_functions.Ta bles(0).NewRow
drCurrent(1) = Me.txt_bla.Text
ds_functions.Ta bles(0).Rows.Ad d(drCurrent)

Dim sw As System.IO.Strea mWriter = New
System.IO.Strea mWriter("Test.x ml")
sw.Write(ds_fun ctions.GetXml.T oString) sw.Flush()
sw.Close()

If I have a look at the data of the new created xml file the
autoincrement-column has the correct value (perfect), but this data is
not available in the xml-view of this file (in Visual Studio.NET
2003). This is a problem because when I try to read the new xml file
with the help of a dataset, the values of the ID column are missing.

Hope anyone can help me.
Thanks in advance,
Marko

If I fill my dataset and there is no data. The dataset is still created with zero rows (all columns are there). When I add my first row using the script below, it takes over 2 seconds to add??? If I add the second row, instant. How can I eliminate this delay?

Hi I have two tables in my database. PRODUCT and PRODUCT_GROUP. PRODUCT has a foreign key to PRODUCT_GROUP. I generated a typed dataset using VS.net and added a relationship between the two tables. When I call my get WebMethod for the PRODUCT table I get the System.Data.ConstraintException exception. The get WebMethod for PRODUCT_GROUP works fine. When I remove the relationship the get WebMethod for PRODUCT works fine too. Both tables...

Hi everyone I was hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I'm just starting to try to work with MS Access tables through VB.net. In Access I can take an existing table and add a new field with the type AutoNumber. I can then set this up as a key. Then if I go into the table I will see sequential numbers have been inserted into that field for me. Can I do this through VB.net I'd appreciate any help or alternative suggestions...

I have set a DataTable and one of the columns I set "AutoIncrement" to True. I then populate the Table by setting the columns to values then add the row to the table. I inadverently set the AutoIncrement Columns to different values but didn't get any errors. Should I be able to set the value of an AutoIncrement Column? I would have thought it couldn't be done as the column value was set when a row was added. -- Dennis in Houston

I can import a csv file with no problem. I can also add columns to the datagrid upon import. I want to be able to start importing at the 3rd row. This will pick up the headers necessary for the datagrid. Once I can get to that point I need some way to be able to add new data only to the new columns that were added. Here is some of my code: //Function For Importing Data From CSV File public DataSet ConnectCSV(string filetable)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
