How to create unique id in xml documents using API? Are
there any Microsoft APIs available to generate Unique IDs
in XML Documents?

Thanks in advance,
Chirag

Chirag,

You can use the generate-id function to achieve this. This is a function
that is defined in the XSLT recommendation from the W3C.

For the implementation in MSXML 4.0 and some examples, see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ltfun_4p7y.asp.

You may also find the XSLT 1.0 recommendation at http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt
useful for additional information.

Do I have any options other than "generate-id()" to
generate unique ids in my xml document? I do not want to
use XSL or XSLT.

There are some options, e.g. you can merely enumerate all nodes, the
question is how are you going to use this id.

Every time during development we had to make table changes, we use Control Center. Most of the time, Control Center fails. If you try to "undo all", it doesn't, and you end up losing your identity seed, or your constraints, or your triggers, or your table. Talking to developers at other companies who have had the misfortune of using DB2, they are adamant that you cannot use the tools; they are buggy and you just have to resign yourself to...

Hallo Alltogether, I've searched in this mailing list, but it seems to me that there is no general approach to pass exceptions from one thread to another. I think most application do a unique way of handling "unhandled exceptions", at least they (should) try to log them. The following discussion seems to me most valuable (Sorry for the long URL, I don't know a way of shorter)

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
