Hello group,
I'm trying to write code to test an application we're developing. This
application needs to store its own performance data in the registry, and
we'd like to be storing quite a large amount of performance data and
updating it fairly quickly. Not surprisingly, we keep coming up with more
and more performance data we'd like to be writing to the registry.
My job is to come up with a test harness to establish the following:...

Hi,
I've been working with the EIF for a few days now. One of the default event
sinks provided is the WMI. I've played around a bit and can send events to
the WMI. My question here centers on performance counters and the WMI.
Is there any way to increase a performance counter in the WMI through the
EIF or am I barking up the wrong tree (I know that .NET has other classes
which allow you to manipulate performance counters)?

Hi...
We're looking at moving an ASP app from IIS 5 to IIS 6. In general things
seem to be working okay, but there are some oddities around the edges. One
of those unanticipated changes has to do with the new process model and the
option to have more than one worker process per web instance.
We found that each worker process has its own Application() state and
anything your app puts there/uses gets a new copy for every worker...

Hello,
I am writing a utility to get the performance counters from a remote
machine. Currently, I am usign the System.Diagnostics.PerformanceCounter
class to retrieve these counters, but they only retrieve the counters with
the permissions of the owneer of my utility's process.
I dont see any way within this class to provide a different authentication
to let the user get the counters with different permissions (windows...

Hi
Has anybody had any experience of ASP.Net performance counters not updating.
In the performance monitor application when I try to add the groups ASP.NET
and ASP.NET Applications the counters all show 0. In addition, ASP.NET
Applications does not show any of the ASP.NET instances that are running on
the computer. The other counters for example % processor time work fine.
The problem machine is a test server running Win2003. ...

Hello. I am having a problem with the .NET Performance Counters or perhaps
with perfmon. The problem is I can see any of the Counters fine when I am
doing live monitoring but when I log them to a file instead they all show up
as "0" or " ". This happens with a binary log or a text log. It is very
clear in the text log - a line gets written for each sample interval and each
value on the line is messed up. Does anybody know what might be...

We've setup a new machine running Windows Server 2003 x64 and cannot
get any meaningful measurements out of Performance Monitor with
respect to .NET. All .NET performance counters seem "stuck"; they
never change. For example, Gen 0 GC Collections is always 15, Gen 1
GC Collections is always 7, and Allocated Bytes/Sec is always 0. No
matter what .NET apps we run, they never change, and the instances
available for monitoring are always...

I have a .Net web service (written for 1.1 Framework using C#) running on
Windows 2003 with all latest patches. To help monitor the service, the code
creates several performance counters. One server (this is a farm) I receive
the following exception when trying to create the performance counters. We
had an earlier issue where the ASPNET user account did not have the
'Performance Monitor' group. The exception was an access denied when trying...

I made a program using the Timer class, and I start the timer with
Timer.Start(), but don't stop it with Timer.Stop(), and I assumed this
was ok, but, Process Explorer informs me, after running it about 10 or
20 times:

Process Explorer

The .NET performance counters on this system are corrupt.
Run Exctrlst from the Microsoft Windows Resource Kit to repair them.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
