Visual Studio 2010 Concept IDE

These guys have it going on. They actually use design ideas that
Microsoft employees can drool upon.

"Like a concept car strutting its stuff, the Visual Studio 2010 Concept
IDE is packed with over-the-top features and weird ideas. Tame as it may
look, this UI designed for one thing: jamming out code. Save the bizarre
Windows Media-esque skins for the punks, we’ve got work to do."

The first thing that came to my mind when I took a look at this concept was
his obsession for statistics. For someone who say that he want « jamming
out code », he looks much more interested at contemplating what he have
already done (how many chars did I type, how many lines, how many files,
since when, where, for how long, etc.; all this with full graphical charts
whenever possible) then he is to write the next thing.

Jabailo,

In China and the rest of that part of Asia they eat with sticks
In the USA with a fork
In Europe (official) with fork and knive (actually mostly only with a fork)
In a greath part of the world only with there fingers

It is not the best tool, however the tool that is the most comfortable to
use and that not differs to much from the one we are used to.

Just my thought,

So you're saying the rest of the world is going with Linux?

I don't think so in by instance Europe is Asterix much more favorite.

Hi All, I am a veteran C/C++ programmer (Unix background) and I want to get to speed with Visual Studio .Net I have legacy C/C++ code that I want to use in my application. However, I'm not sure how to call my native C++ functions from my C++ DLLs. The confusion is this: I currently have Visual Studio 2003 it is not clear whether I should use managed extensions or C++/Interop?

I came across a rather interesting article this morning and thought I'd share. We all know that Visual Studio is a great IDE, but I think we can all agree that it is adds a dramatic change to how we write code. I'm not posting to talk trash or start a flamewar, just wanting feedback in regards to the following article. I happen to use Visual Studio on a daily basis and am not a John Rivers alter-ego. ...

1. Why does Visual Studio 2008 started ignoring //{NO_DEPENDENCIES} in resource.h? If I edit file "resource.h" _manually_, it rebuilds the whole solution. It worked just fine with Visual Studio 2005. 2. Why does Visual Studio 2008 not allow having two resource files (that use the same "resoure.h") open at the same time, when they are in different projects of the same solution (localization resource-only dll projects?) It worked just fine...

I have a unix C++ project that needs to be converted over to windows visual studio. I'm not sure of the exact version of VS, but it's a recent version, probabIy 2003 or 2005. I would like the windows directory tree to mimic the unix tree as closely as possible, but I don't want duplicate files and other inconsistencies. I have come up with an idea but I don't know how close it fits a "typical" windows project. If you know of specific...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
