I first started using HCW.exe to compile .rtf filew created with MS Word a
couple of weeks ago. I used the file | new
menu then selected New project in the dialog box and everything worked as
expected.
After this I decided to TRY to start a new project, so I repeated the File |
New menu but for some reason HCW.exe wouldn't allow me to create a new
project. After repeating the aforementioned process the filename plus the
..hpj extension...

Hi y'all,
only recently, I've delved into creating installers with VS.NET. So far, I'd
created a Deployment Solution, added a couple of Merge Modules to it &
everything worked fine.
Today, I read some stuff on MSDN that talked about Windows Installer Patch
files, but nowhere did I find any info regarding creating WIP files with
VS.NET.

Hi everybody:
I have a project with a lot of source files.
Every logical set of source files is compiled and archived in .a files
(using mingw toolchain):
* library.data.a
* library.ui.a
* library.service.a
Now, I want to create a library.dll file from my .a files; how can I do

I have a set of, say, 2000 points in the 8-dimensional simplex
S={(x_1,x_2,...,x_8),x_1+x_2+...+x_8=1, x's>=0}.
To help analyze that 8-dimensional set, I wish to project
the set of points onto each of the 'faces' {x_i+x_j+x_k=1}
for the 56 choices i,j,k, that is, i=1 to 6; j=i+1 to 7; k=j+1 to 8.
Finally, use gnuplot to load and plot each of the 56 files of 3-d points.
I have C code that will, for given i,j,k, find the projection...

Hi everyone,
I like to export some data from the database and allow my users to store
this file to their harddrive as a .txt file. Does anyone know how I would
go about doing that? (without creating the actual physical text file on my
local drive first).
Thank you
Maziar A.

Is there a way to instantiate a page object in code and redirect the response to it? I know that this is how the actual ASP.NET engine ultimately does it under the covers. However, is this available to the developer? I want to be able to use page inheritance to create a centralized page controler without the need to build .aspx files for every page (since they would be pretty much empty shells anyway).
Here is a sample of what I "want" to do....

Hi,
I'm creating a CMS that I would like to be plug-in based with different
plugins handling different kinds of content.
What I really want is to be able to load/unload plugins on the fly
without restarting the application.
What I did was to create an AppDomain that loaded the plugins and
everything was great, until I tried to pass something else that strings
between the domains...

Hi;
My ASP.NET app (C# calling J# under .net 2.0) creates a png file in a
subdirectory to display as part of the created page. However, the bitmap will
not display due to a security violation.
Everything is the default settings I believe. IIS is running under Local
System. In IIS the DefaultAppPool is running under Network Service.
Annonymous access uses the account IUSR_JASMINE (machine name is Jasmine).

Hi All,
.NET 1.1 doesn't support creating symbolic links to files,
like in Linux? Can i use C# to make a file point to another file?
Thanks.

Hi,
I am using C# with framework 2.0 and creating PDF files on-fly, along
with this I am using Windows 2003 Server.
I am using Byte to take the data input and then save into pdf format
on harddrive location.
Now after creating few successful pdf files, I am getting
"System.OutOfMemoryException".

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
