Can anyone please explain to me why the code below throws an exception?
It seems to occur when deserializing an instance of a subclass, whose
base class holds a struct, where said struct holds an instance to a
reference type (but not System.String).
The commented out code are lines that when enabled (and any conflicting
lines disabled) stop the exception from being thrown.
Thanks kindly,
Andrew.

I am getting an error (a few among many) for the
following lines of code:
retval.BrokerName = (( curRow ==
System.DBNull.Value ) ? SqlString.Null : (string)curRow );
retval.BrokerGroupId = (( curRow ==
System.DBNull.Value ) ? SqlInt32.Null : (int)curRow );
The errors are (in turn):

Hi,
I am receiving the error when compiling the project, "cannot implicitly
convert type object to string".
The error points to this line of code and underlines the
dtrRecipient: objMailMessage.To = dtrRecipient;
I'm not sure why I am getting this error. Below is the complete code I am
working with.

I have a page that has the login control on it, nothing else. This page inherits from a master page, neither page has any code in it. This page works perfectly when running on the WebDev debug web server. I am able to log in. However after publishing the page to my local IIS, it results in the below error. This error is occurring on the Visual Studio.Net 2k5 release version, but did not occur on the beta 2, same code.
A point of interest, is...

If I pass a reference type ByVal, am I making a copy of the object on the
heap or am I making a copy of a pointer to the object on the heap?
If I pass a string object (reference type) into a sub ByVal and modify it,
the original string doesn't change. If I pass it ByRef it does.
This makes it seem like the actual type (reference or value) that is being
passed is irrelevant and that only the ByVal or ByRef keyword matters.
Is this...

Can one use 'ref' ( or 'out' ) on a reference type to create a reference
to a reference in C#. I know one can use it on a value type to create a
reference to that value.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
