I want an application developed in C# to be used on any computer _without_
the client computer needing the .NET framework. I have build a sample
application that I want to be able to quickly show to people. I will plug
in a ThumbDrive with my app on it, and then execute my application. I don't
want to have to force people to install the Framework and reboot if they do
not have the .NET framework installed.
Is this possible? and how?

We have an application which uses some mixed-mode code to expose a .NET 1.1
managed API. Only the necessary files are compiled with /clr.
We want to be able to load the application without .NET present, and then
just disable the API.
But we are not even able to give an error message when we start the
application without mscoree.dll present. We have tried delay-loading
mscoree.dll, but that did not help because the OS loader (at least on...

All right, I have read every forum, newsgroup etc about
this issue and no one seems to know how to fix it. I am
getting a "Server Application Unavailable" exception
running my .NET 1.1 application. I use W2K SP4 and have
applied the hot Fix KB824146 and KB824105, both IE fixes.
I don't have VS installed because this is a Quality
Environment. I do have .NET SDK and .NET 1.1 Runtime
installed. I can't change my APSNET user to run as...

I'm trying to get an existing VS.NET project up on my Win2003 server and I
get the following error (on the actual website page):
"It is an error to use a section registered as
allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error
can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application
in IIS."
I've been told by the previous developer that the website needs to be set as
a "application". I...

I have an application (that has unmanaged code) and when I launch it without
'FullTrust' permissions (LocalIntranet_Zone), it crashes. When I set
'FullTrust' permissions, it launches fine. Is there a way I can compile the
application such that it won't even attempt to launch without correct
permissions instead of just crashing? Thanks for any help.

Yes, I wasted the past two days trying to fix this.
Yes, this is on a Win2003 Server.
Yes, this machine is a domain controller.
Yes, I seen the dozens of KB articles like this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q315158
But the problem is that 99% of these are for ASP .NET 1.x and this
is .NET 2.x which I just installed to try and get .net working for the
first time ever. I've see all the HACKS to get .net 1.x...

I am looking for an application that will wrap my .Net application (and any
needed .Net parts) into a single exe.
I know of Thinstall ($4,000 for application and per copy fees for your exes)
and of Xenocode (~$1,500 plus ~ $12 per copy of your exe). But, I'd like
something that is actually affordable for a hobbyist programmer.
This capability (Thinstall's being able to wrap a .Net app and ship it as a
single exe) would be a FANTASTIC...

We're looking into building an in-house integrated enterprise system
to manage inventory, work-in-process, and finances, among others. I
am somewhat familiar with VB.NET (veteran VB 6 programmer) and think
that using the .NET framework would be best.
What programming language is ideal for programming in the .NET
framework, just overall, and what has been people's experiences taking
on a massive project like this?
Right now, we use a...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
