Hello all, I wrote a shell program a few years ago in VB6 that needs to be modified. The problem I have is this: The SysAdmin uses this shell in place of Explorer, so there is no taskbar. When his users run PC Anywhere from the shell, and minimize it, it minimizes to the system tray. With no task bar, there is no system tray, so there is no way to restore the PC Anywhere window. The shell starts PC Anywhere using ShellExecute. I...

I created a Windows service by deriving a class from ServiceBase and installing it via the 'sc create' commands as follows: sc create <name> binPath= <path> Where path is the fully qualified path name. The new service appeared in the Services GUI and I was able to start and stop it without problems. Next I

In the mean time, I have another c# application, I would like to know if there is a way to find out in this c# application where (the complete path)the window service program is running from. I have a windows 2000 server on which I have installed the .NET 2.0 Framework runtime. I have an application I've written using VS 2005. In it, I use master pages. When I debug this app on my machine, it looks great. When I run it on the server, it looks like crap - no master page goodness is being employed. This is the first ASP.NET 2.0 application I've put on the server. I noticed that there is no ASP.NET tab on the properties...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development projectplanning, coding, testing, and deploymentwithout human intervention. The idea...
