Does anyone know of any (shareware or commercial) VB class (or COM
object) that provides functionality to read and write to named pipes?
Thanks.

Hello,
Here is an example of Multithreaded Pipe Server and Client using the
excellent ctypes library (Windows).
Reference - MSDN:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/ipc/base/multithreaded_pipe_server.asp
and

In the process of doing some routine monitoring/clean-up we've
discovered that several (many?) users are apparently set to access our
SQL Server 2000 database instances via the Named Pipes protocol. In
readings and recommendations we've decided that our WAN would be best
served if we use the less "chatty" TCP/IP.
As such we've also decided to try to enforce this decision to use
TCP/IP exclusively using the domain login script used by all...

I'm using an Access database to drive a web site and the
colors of various table backgrounds are stored in Access.
I want users of the Access database to be able to select
colors for the site, but my mappings between named colors,
HEX values and the Long Integer values used in Access are
not jibbing. Anyone have a nice list laying around?

Hi,
I need to communicate between two processes. I tryed using named pipes, but
I'm afraid it's too complex for me...
I'd like to explain what I need. The two processes must just exchange an
array of two bytes. The successive writes should overwrite the previous ones.
For example, the process A sends byte0=7, byte1=9 and then it sends byte0=8,
byte1=10. The process B reads only after the second array is sent. The read
array should be...

Hi all, my current project is completely written in native C++, and
for some reason I need to write a standalone .Net program to do some
work for it. Therefore, I need to find an effective way of IPC between
my unmanaged code and managed code. What's most appropriate IPC
solution for this? Thanks in advance.

Hi all,
I would like to know is there a way to find out if any named pipes are
running in a box. How can I go about doing that? Or is there a way to
find out if a particular named pipe already running?
Thanks

I trying to use a named pipe but can't figure out how to get the
callback to work:
Module Module1
Private ps As System.IO.Pipes.NamedPipeServerStream
Public Sub main()
Application.EnableVisualStyles()
Try
ps = New System.IO.Pipes.NamedPipeServerStream("Test")
ps.BeginWaitForConnection(AddressOf HandleConnection, "Test")

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
