Asp.Net: Html to Excel problem with some clients

I have 2 hyperlinks. On the click of first hyperlink, ExcelReport.asp x is
executed which contains the code:
Response.Conten tType = "applicatio n/vnd.ms-excel"
Response.AddHea der("content-disposition", "attachment ;
filename=Report .xls")

After this code, i write all the response.write statements that generates
the html table. The Excel Report is saved perfectly. The page does not output
anything on the screen. No problem till here!

Now when i click on the second link, Report2.aspx is called which contains
code to generate the second html table and output it on the screen. In debug
mode, every line of code is executed. But the screen is blank. The new html
table is not displayed.

THE INTERESTING PART:
This behaviour is exhibited only by certain clients. I get this problem
while testing on the web server. But on certain clients, the second html
report is displayed perfectly---even after saving the first report in excel
!!!

Anyone who knows why this happens ??? Please help !!!

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Spacy

Here's my situation. I need on-site manager's to be able to view a list of records on our website (which they already can do). They need to be able to select any/all fields and then export these items to an excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will have dynamically created columns/rows to append and life is good. What's the best way to go about this? I've used DTS to do this before, but it's been a long time and I can't remember if...

Hi, I'm trying to export an ASP based report to Excel while preserving its display properties. I've added: Response.ContentType="application/vnd.ms-excel", and it works fine for several clients. For other clients it displays an emptry excel sheet. I'm not sure, but i think it has something to do with the excel version installed on clients - empty sheets were displayed for Excel 2000 clients while clients running Excel 2002 displayed the...

Dear all, I understand that: 1) Server-Side Office automation is not recommended by MS (KB257757). 2) OWC is a client-side ActiveX Technology, NOT an ASP.NET server control. 3) OWC9 has limitations used Server-Side, which are solved at OWC10 (KB317316) 4) Office XP/2003 PIA enables the use of office COM interface in .NET Apps.

We have a pretty complicated Excel based application that I'm looking to make the functionalities online. It has very rich UI and displays numerous input controls (think a tax form like screen). It's so customized that a user wouldn't know it's Excel. It does some simple calculations when user inputs something into certain cells. It can also track user input on a cell by cell basis (e.g. a history of Bob changed to this on this day, Joe...

I've often used methods exposed by software purchased for other uses to automate tasks. For instance back in the late 90's I found the terminal emulation package the company exposed methods that allowed me to write a VB program that could use that terminal emulation package to connect to, read, and enter data on the company's mainframes. I think this was called OLE? Well now I'm on the other end of the picture and I need to write into a...

My suggestion is stored at http://www.delmarcottages.ca/cottages/bookings/booking2.html and the booking2.css is in that directory also. (this page...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
