Reasons for a 3-tier achitecture for the WEB?
(NOTE: I said, WEB, NOT WINDOWS.
DON'T shoot your mouth off if you don't understand the difference.)
I hear only one reason and that's to switch a database from SQL Server to
Oracle or DB2 or vice versa... and that's it.... And a lot of these
enterprises don't need it as they already know what database they are going
to use and they don't plan on switching in and out database in the first...

I want my user to see some kind of temporary message like
'Processing...' or 'Waiting.. ' after I clicked on a SUBMIT

When my app launches I use a splash screen - the built in splash screen that
comes with VB .net 2005.
In my main forms load code (which comes up rigfht after the splash screen) ,
I attempt a connection to the sql server db. If the user cannot connect, I
display a connection error message in a message box. The splash screen is
still being displayed while this is happening. When the message box code
runs, it does not bring up the mesage...

I have an app that shows the time it takes to execute a search, much like SQL Management Studio, but the app behaves as though the System.Windows.Forms.Timer gets blocked while binding the results to the grid. As you might expect, I execute the search in the background but I have to return to the UI thread to bind the results. While databinding, it appears as though the Timer.Tick event never gets fired, so my timer freezes at the time before...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
