Hi, I appologise if I'm not posting this to the correct group, but I'm
having problems starting MySQL server. I need it in order to post a
websurvey for a research project I'm doing for a college computer ethics
class.
Well here is the output several commands, from netstat -a I can see that
MySQL is listening, but when I try to start the server I get a port error.
I'm running SUSE 9.1 and I searched all over the web for info on this...

We are currently running MS-SQL2000 on a MS Server 2003 OS with 8G of
memory (AWE enabled) with 4 HT processors (OS thinks that there are 8
because of the HT). We are experiencing 1 - 3 days of very slow activity
about the same time each month. Processes that usually take 20 minutes are
lasting 3 hours, this slowed processing only occurs on these days and then
everything goes back to normal. One more thing I should note is that when
this...

hi, everyone.
I'm writing a 2-players game that should support network mode. I'm now
testing it on 1 PC since I don't have 2. I directly use sockets, and
both client and server do computations, the only data transfered is
user mouse/kbd input.
It works synchronously, but somehow, when I play in client window,
both client and server have 17 fps, while when playing in server
window, server has 44 fps while client ...

We have an Access app (quite big) at www.orbisoft.com/download.
We have had requests by potential users to have it converted to an SQL
version for them since there corporate policy excludes them from buying mdb
backends.
Here's the (million dollar?) questions :)
How long and how difficult a process would it be?
Which SQL platform would we be best to develop it on?

Host PC: Win SBS 2003 with 2.6 GHz processor and 1GB RAM
SQL Server 2000 sp3 (or latest).MS Office 2k3
I have the access 2k3 front end running on server (this may get
changed) and all was well until an upgrade 1 week ago when I installed
a new version of the mde (with very minor changes) and a new VB
application via a VB6 installer setup.exe.
Access uses odbc to linked tables on SQL Server, plus a few local
tables.

Hi
We recently transfered our couple webpages/applications from old
rig(2xP3 1Ghz) on IIS 5.0 and win2k to a new hardware(2xXeonHT 3Ghz)
with IIS6.0 and Win2k3.
On the old system everything worked fine accept the fact that it was
overloaded ;-)
On the new server after couple hours http server response times jump

Hi:
I have an Access database that's been running (in one form or another)
for a couple of different clients for a few years. Now a new client has
requested that it be implemented with a SQL server back-end. I'm doing
my best to learn about SQL server, and I plan to leave the front-end
more or less as-is, just linking to the SQL server back end, but here's
a basic question:
The db has a front-end linked to two back-ends. One of the...

My application is calculation intensive and the servers are agonizingly slow.
Administrators of my application only update the backends once a month (twice
a month max). So, my launching program allows the back-end file to be
downloaded to the user's PC. This will provide maximum speed for these
calculations/manipulations of data. Without this, just logging into the main
app connected to the server back-end file can take five minutes...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
