Having trouble using regsvcs.exe

I'm running vb.net 1.1 and I need to register a dll using regsvcs.exe and am
getting the error:
Command "RegSvcs.ex e" is not valid.

the path to the dll I want to register is:
D:\nwis\Apps\CS LA
1.0\csla\CSLA.S erver.ServicedD ataPortal\bin\C SLA.Server.Serv icedDataPortal. d
ll

and I've tried lots of different syntax for using regsvcs in both the
dosprompt and the vs comand prompt and always get the same error.

Here's one of syntax I tried?

regsvcs /appname:CLSA CSLA.Server.Ser vicedDataPortal .dll

Here's another one:
C:\WINDOWS\Mic rosoft.NET\Fram ework\v1.1.4322 \regsvcs D:\nwis\Apps\CS LA

1.0\csla\www\Da taPortal\bin\CS LA.Server.Servi cedDataPortal.d ll

and it's response:
Command "C:\WINDOWS\Mic rosoft.NET\Fram ework\v1.1.4322 \regsvcs" is not valid.

Note: I made a virtual directory in IIS mapping to:
D:\nwis\Apps\CS LA 1.0\csla\www\Da taPortal

Maybe I need to re-register regsvcs. If so, what syntax do i use for that?
Can anyone help me with the proper syntax and any other tips?

Hi moondaddy,

First of all, I would like to confirm my understanding of your issue. From
your description, I understand that you need to use regsvcs.exe under a
command prompt. If there is any misunderstandin g, please feel free to let
me know.

When we use commands by .NET framework, we have to begin from Visual Studio
.NET 2003 Command Prompt in stead of command prompt in windows. Please try
to start from Start -> All Programs -> Visual Studio .NET 2003 -> Visual
Studio .NET Tools -> Visual Studio .NET 2003 Command Prompt. And try you
command again.

HTH.

I have been trying to get a previously built .NET component to run on a Windows 2000 Server box. It's previous home was on an XP box using ..NET framework version 1.0.3328. On that machine, it ran with no problem, but on the 2000 Server box, with version 1.1.4322, it fails to load and gives an access denied error. I have moved the same component to an XP box with version 1.1.4322, and it registered there as well, but gave more warnings...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
