If I try to make any changes to the ASP.NET Portal Starter kit it fails with
an access denied error.
This was working when I left last week and is failing today. I don't
remember changing anything, but I guess something had to be changed. I
have checked NTFS permissions and the ASPNET account has full control on the
parent directory of that XML file and on the file itself. I have also
checked in IIS, and the Virtual Directory has...

Hi,
We have a simple 3 tier application which its core application is VC++ 6.0
ATL COM running as a server application in the COM+. An asp pipe is in charge
of handling the requests and passes it to the COM for processing.
We are now trying to migrate the asp pipe to Asp.Net.
When running the above configuration with Asp.Net on IIS 5.0 (W2K) we have
no problems but when trying the do it on IIS 6.0 (W2K3) we are getting the

I have a web server sitting on computer 1, (QA1). Out on the network on my
main server I have a folder with a zip file in it. All I want is for the
web services that are on the web server to pick up the Zip file and send it
when the web services are called.
However I am getting the following error:
-- Message: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: Server was unable
to process request. ---> System.ApplicationException:...

I have a Win2k server running SQL Server 2000. On that box I built a
working web service that pulls data from the database. One of the
services available simply accepts an ado.net connection string to test
if a connection can be made to the local server. I can call that web
service from any box on my network, and with the correct connection
string, I can establish a connection to the database.
However, when I copy the exact same service...

I am developing an ASP.NET web service application. It works fine on my
WinXP Prof development machine. But when I send it to a Windows Server 2003
system I get the following error (attached below).
I suppose I have some kind of permissions issue on the server? What
recommendations can anyone propose?
Thanks,

Hi;
I created a virtual directory in IIS 6.0 and my asp.net app runs fine. But
when it tries to write a file I get:
Access to the path is denied. - C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\RunReportASP\images
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\RunReportASP is the directory of my virtual directory for
my app. In it's properties I did check "Write" as a permission.
What else do I need to do?

Installed an old classic ASP webapplication in IIS7, running under a new app.pool with 'NETWORK SERVICE' account (using existing app.pool gives same results).
This webapplication tries to write to a log file.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
