A three-tier user authentication system was running without a problem for almost a year and now is suddenly dysfunctional. We don't know of any changes to any of the servers. It's quite maddening. The details:
1) We know the COM+ app is instanced on the COM+ server (Win 2000). The component graphic spins when CreateObject is called.
2) The proxy is installed on an IIS server (Win 2000) with delivers the interface, written in ASP, to the...

Question about a System.Threading.Timer object and the "state" object you
pass to it...
Timer stateTimer = new Timer( = new TimerCallback( OnTimer ), o, 1000,
1000);
I have an array of timer objects which all fire into my OnTimer( object
state ) function very nicely. I pass in an object "o" on creation of this
timer which I subsequently get passed to me in my OnTimer function. Now in
the OnTimer function I want to modify the object...

I setup the SessionState (out-of-process in SQLServer). I can query
ASPState..ASPStateTempSessions table. However, "SessionItemShort" content

Is it a way to "deserialize" sessions contents stored in SQL Srv?
I need to now values stored in all sessions at any given time. The best

Hello,
I have an ASP.Net application that uses the Wizard control to build a newsletter.
There are three steps in the wizard.
The customer's specific design data are loaded from a database in step 1 of the wizard and saved into a session variable.
In step 2, when the user clicks on a button, I load the design data from the session variable and these are saved for further handling in a HashTable.
The HashTable is defined in the...

I get the above error in some of the ASP.NET web applications on a

This is a rather long post, and I hope I have enough details that
someone who bothers to read all of it have some pointers.
Note, I have posted the stack trace and the code exhibiting the problem
further down so if you want to start by reading that, search for +++
Also note that I am unable to reproduce...

Howdy,
I wonder why below does not work.
a = object()
a.b = 1 # dynamic bind attribute failed...
To make it correct, we have to create a new class:
class MyClass(object): pass
a = MyClass()
a.b = 1 # OK

First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
