After using VS.Net without trouble for some time, I am now unable to
create a new project or add a component to an existing project.
Existing code compiles and runs OK.
The problem started after installing Office 2003 Pro (over Office XP).
Attempting to create a new project in either VB or C# results in an
"Unregistered Libary" error. Attempting to add a new component (eg a
windows form, code module, or class etc) to an existing project...

Hi,
In my application, on some given actions while debugging in Visual Studio, I
suddenly get a "System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception was unhandled"
Message="Error creating window handle." exception.
The problem is that this exception isn't raised somewhere in a method, so it
just shows up, and it causes the application to shut down.
Is there anyway how to catch this kinds of exceptions? Can I put somewhere a

Please help
I don't know if this is possible but what I would really like to do is
to use On Error Goto to capture the code that is being executed when
an error occurs.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Well, the problem I'am having now applies to web applications only.
Therefore, I believe it has something to do with security settings. Here's
the code:

Private Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As
System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Dim child As System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry
' dirEntry is a DirectoryEntry component that points to

I have a function residing in a module that is doing some file copy and
database query operations. This function is called from a regular form under
a System.Windows.Forms.Timer control. The problem is that sometimes it gives
an error - even when it is doing the same exact operations. It may fail on
the 20th tick event or the 100th. The file and data has no changes - so, it
is doing the same operations repeatedly. I'm wondering if anyone...

I am getting an unspecified error when adding a windows form to a project. New project, old project. Doesn't matter. Also happens for user control. All the message box says is Unspecified Error.

Essentially, InsertAT is broken!
For the past couple of hours, I've been getting this "Parameter name:
'-2147483550' is not a valid value for 'index'." error.
Apparently, its caused by having manually inserted a row in the table
bound to the Combo box. The InsertAt Method of adding a row just does
not work.
Hope this helps anyone with this problem.

In Visual Studio 2003 when I try to add a new component or form to a project it pops up an error, "Unspecified Error" with no details. I tried re-setting permissions on the disk drive and also re-installing VS 2003 with no joy. Everything was hunky-dory until I installed WSE 2.0. Anybody have any clues?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
