VS.NET Setup Creation: shortcut problem

Hi, I have a solution with bunch of projects. and one of them is a setup for
the rest of the projects.
all works fine.. except when i create shortcuts in my setup project to
'Primary Outoput' project, and when the shortcut is created, when i click
the short cut, it first launchs the setup again, then if i hit cancel, it
then launchs the .exe it was suppose to point to.
anyone know why it re-launches the setup each time..

i right clicked the shortcut in windows, and it seems to be picking the
Setup project as the target.

i have checked all the properties of the shortcut before i build and
everthing looks fine

I created an msi using the Setup Wizard, but don't seem to be able to create a shortcut to the applicaton on the desktop (or prompt for one) or the menu. Also, I would like to add an "uninstall" to this, but don't see that it allows for this? Am I missing something?

There is one more problem I am facing but didn't get the solution. In my Setup Program I am not been able to create 2 things (when the program is intalled on the client machine ) : (1) create shortcut to my program/utility (2) Entry in Windows' Start --> Program Menu. Actually in my VB.Net solution I have two projects (1) MYPROGRAM (2) MYPROGRAM_INSTALLER. MYPROGRAM is a "Windows Application". MYPROGRAM_INSTALLER is a "SetUp Wizard"...

Hi there, This may be simple once I find out how, but I'm trying to add a desktop icon for one of our laptop/desktop setup and deployment projects that will put it on all users desktops. As usual the MSDN documentation is a joke and there doesn't seem to be much available on the net that helps. I can easily do it for the logged on user, but all users is proving

I have developed a Windows application in Visual Studio .NET 2003 and created a Setup project for it. In the File System Editor I have added a shortcut to the User's Desktop folder to point to the application once it has been installed. I have added a condition to the User's Desktop named "DESKTOPSHORTCUT" (I have used several names, this is just the latest). In the User interface, I have added a screen with a checkbox that asks the user...

Hi, I am using VS2005 and am attempting to create a Setup project to install my VB.NET application onto the customer's target computer. I am having difficulty setting the Target property for the Desktop shortcut. It only allows me to select the Application folder. I cannot add the actual name of the executable program after that. When I install it and the user clicks on the shortcut, it opens the folder where the application is...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
