If I add an instance of an object to the Cache what is returned when I
request the item from the cache?
Is it a clone of the object or is it a reference to the object?
I want to know because I would like to go through the instantiaition process
of a New instance only once and then store the object in the cache.
I need to know if subsequent...

I thought this warranted a new thread.
Yesterday I asked about access relatively static content...is it better to
read from the DB, or just grab a text file. It was suggested that I use the
DB and look into the Application Cache settings.
I found a good article here:

I cache a ton of stuff, and my application works great....but......
When I am stress testing it I'll get the "Object reference not set to an
instance of an object"
every once in a while...
It tends to happen when the cache is expired.....
I do a lot testing to make sure that it actually returns the object out of
cache...
I insure that...

Hi all
I was trying to set an xml document in the cache, and I couldn't use the structure
Cache(key as string) = myxmlDoc as xmlDocumen
because I receive an error like "objet reference not set" or something like that, however I don't receive any error when I "build" my solution
Otherwise, if I use the structure
Httpcontext.Current.Cache(key...

I'm a first-time user with PostgreSQL so please forgive my ignorance.
I've purchased (and read) Practical PostgreSQL (O'Reilly) and PostgreSQL
Essential Reference (New Riders). So far, so good. I think learning
PostgreSQL will not be as difficult as I thought it would be. I've also
been googling for the last few days, but I have a...

My question is to do with scalability and the location for storate of cache,
session, viewstate and application data.
Application - Data is stored in memory (in process)
Session - Data is stored in memory (in process or out of process)
- can be configured to store the session data in sql server (which relates
to my question)
ViewState -...

The current property settings of an ASP.NET page and those of any
ASP.NET server controls contained within the page. ASP.NET can detect
when a form is requested for the first time versus when the form is
posted (sent to the server), which allows you to program accordingly.

I have a question about ASP.NET output caching.
I want to use screen scraping as a temporary hack to pull in some complex
Classic ASP-rendered content into some ASP.NET pages:

{
WebResponse objResponse;
WebRequest objRequest = System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create(url);

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then...

I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in...
