Detach doesn't release the file handle

Hi All,
Here is the scenario where i am having the problem.

There is a COM component let us say "A" is running under DLLHOST . "A"
creates normal COM component "B". To debug the component B i am attaching to
the DLLHOST process before any method is calledon the component B. In this
case i didn't find any FILE HANDLES held by the DLLHOST.EXE for the
component "B".

When workspace of "B" attaches to the DLLHOST.EXE and when a method is
already calledon the component "B", DLLHOST.EXE is holding a FILE
HANDLE refrence, which is not freed even after detach happens.

I would like to know why this difference in the behavior is.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Regards,
Ramesh

If I detach a database on a server, then attach the database with a single file only using the data file...will I lose any transactions that were in the original log file? There is a debate going on here at work where some people think that during the detach, transactions in the log file are saved to the data file. Thanks!

Hi, I think I found a bug with VS, and I've included a project example of the problem I got. I've got a project deep into a set of folders. The project have an additional include library directory which is pretty long and expressed relative to the project (with ..\..\ and directory names).

I have a umangaged dll ( I have the source code) which I use in my web app using pinvoke. The dll creates a file, writes to it, and then closes it. It works the first time through but the second time through it can't open file so my dll fails and returns an error number. I then try to delete the file manually but it says that I can not delete it because it is use by other program or user. I used process explorer utility from sysinternals...

Any examples how to detach and run as a daemon?. I've seen some use System.out.close() and System.err.close(), but I just can't get it to detach and run as a daemon. I'm on GNU/Linux, using gcj/classpath. Any pointers? --

Hi All, In my work place we are still using VS6.00 with C++ and are not allowed to use a newer version (to connect to source control). We also use ClearCase as source control software. What I did was to install VS 2008 Beta 1 on my machine and made a copy of my source directory to use VS2008 with it. I want to use VS2008 only as my editor and don't want to check-in/check-out with it (since my company doesn't like it). When I open my...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
